re: Mora out in Seattle, Pete Carroll in
Baffling how Jim Mora got a second chance at head coach in the first place. Equally baffling is how he is 48 years old but looks like he's 28.

I'm sure Seahawk fans are happy about this.

Either he's the "Dick Clark" of coaching or he doesn't coach hard enough.

1. The Reggie Bush investigation is still simmering. AND a judge just ruled against Carroll who argued that the NCAA investigators could not depose him - - that means interview him under oath. Now they can and such a deposition opens the POSSIBILITY that: a. There was involvement in the Reggie Bush mess by a coach or coaches 2. The QB that he demoted to start Barkley all year has transferred from USC. He's gone and he ain't coming back. 3. Joe McKnight and his rogue SUV are also leaving USC for the NFL this year. The surprise to me is why the Seahawks are so interested in Carroll and why the Bears reportedly lusted after him Here is is NFL head coaching history: 1. He coached the Jets for 1 year. His team started out 6-4 and lost the final 6 games of the season. Hardly what you would call a rousing success... 2. He coached the Pats for 3 years. He took over the Pats' team that went to the Super Bowl and lost to the Packers. He did not take over a team full of stumblebums. Here is what his teams did: Year 1: Won AFC East.Do you see a trend there that you find attractive?

Yeah that kind of perked my ears as well. I still kind of wonder how we got Shanahan at only 7/year. Is it likely that there's more than base pay in there? Playoff bonuses? Small ownership stake? Something?

Re: Mora out in Seattle, Pete Carroll in
This is just another typical example of of how teams skirt the rule and actually flaunt their lack of respect for it. We're going to interview Frazier just to satisfy the rule, but we're going to hire Carroll. Based on the way teams are circumventing that rule one has to wonder if it should not be revisited. That's a discussion for another day and time, good luck Pete Carroll.

Or maybe Snyder is going to stop grossly overpaying people and start paying them what they are actually worth...naaah

Re: Mora out in Seattle, Pete Carroll in
At this point do you just pay the $200k and risk draft picks for future violations or do you find someone to do a token interview. I'm starting to get the feeling that while the Rooney rule worked to start with, pretty soon it's going to result in a backlash.

So they have just totally ignored the RR rule? And people think the Redskins made a mockery of it.

The Rooney Rule is obviously not working as it should, though. Changes are needed.

Re: Mora out in Seattle, Pete Carroll in
The Rooney Rule is working exactly as it was intended. Clubs have to interview a minority candidate...that's it. What do you want an NFL team to have to hire a minority candidate? That is un American, you should be able to hire whoever you want to. They are already being told to interview candidates that wouldn't warrant serious consideration otherwise. I don't mind the rule, but don't say that it's not working just because these candidates rarely get chosen over more qualified peers.
