i agree. i think shanahan's decision to use a 3-4 defense is motivated more by novelty than necessity.

Hmm, I think Kedric Golston and Monty are on their way out. I don't know if Peppers is going to be an OLB or 3-4 DE.

Getting rid of Golston would be a mistake.

I was thinking the same thing. Those guys are actually worth the money we pay them.

im going to trust that allen and shanny are well aware of peppers reputation for taking plays and games off, not having a drive for football, etc when they are determining whether to enter the peppers sweepstakes.

imo peppers probably took plays off b/c of the franchise tag and that he just doesnt live and breath football. for those reasons i wouldnt even consider him but maybe allen can structure an incentive based contract with "out clauses" for the skins if peppers gets here and continues what he did in carolina.

i dont want guys who dont live breath and love football, no matter how well they did when they first got into the league.

A few thoughts:

So the redskins are interested in:
Darren Sproles
Julius Peppers

Karlos Dansby has the Skins on his 4 team wish list
So does Chester Taylor

Sounds like Shanahan wouldn't mind having LT here as well

We should be going after a corner like Dunta Robinson, a receiver like Kevin walter who knows this offense, a few free agent lineman that know this offense (Pitts, Hamilton) and one that likes the OL coach (pashos)

Sounds like a big free agent offseason again for us.

Orakpo at OLB in a 3-4 is a perfect fit for us NOT OLB in a 4-3

Haynesworth should be a DE in a 3-4, not a NT, thats where we should draft one or get anthony montgomery as our new NT.

We already have Peppers. His name on our team is Andre Carter. Poop on this idea.

I am from Charlotte, and I strongly disagree. Peppers matches AC's numbers in a bad year.

On another note...the thought of Alexander playing OLB for us makes me smile. If that guy can pull that off I might think him my favorite Redskin. Maybe ever. A guy who can play OL, DL, LB and be a pretty damn good Special teamer is basically unheard of in the modern NFL.

Might as well get excited about it. No point in bitching at this point, especially with the salary cap practically in a vegetative state at this point.

re: Peppers signs with the Bears (updated - again)

I live in Charlotte amongst the so called "fans" of the Panthers and this is NOT a good move. I have seen this guy play over and over and he just isn't as dominant as people make him out to be. And certainly not for the $$$ its going to take to have him sign. He is missing so much during the games, and sperratically will make a play here and there. He hates dropping back in coverage, which what he did from time to time in Charlotte. I can't see him loving it in the 3-4 either. I think he invisions himself as a 100% rush end and its not going to be that way, not with orakpo on the other side. I am just not hyped on this guy like everyone else. Plus he's 30, so he has a few years left but not really high productive years. He will end up signing like a 7 year deal probably and void after 4, which leaves us with all that money assuming the cap comes back.
i would much rather see money spent on top notch corner or olineman, not another 30something player looking for the big payday

Yeah i argue with the Panther fans. The guy is dominant we will see this year how the Panthers look without him. Teams can avoid him but it limits what they can do on offense. Again they wanted 2 first rounders for him. That says enough to me.

If Carolina stole 2 first rounders from someone last year, that would have been the steal of the century. I am telling you people that he isn't worth all the hype.

He had good personel on the D in Carolina, so it wasn't like he was getting doubled all the time. They have pretty damn good LB's and a decent D line. Hell a few years ago they were considered one of the best D lines in the business with chris Jenkins in the middle. The guy is just....Lazy i guess is a word that comes to mind. The season before last, Carolina was trying to take advantage of his athletisism and dropping him in coverage from time to time, and one he stunk, but two he couldn't stand it. Which is what got him asking for the outs in Carolina. His past few years here have been so up and down. He would dominate a game with 3 sacks, force a fumble, get some tackles, then you wouldn't here his name for 3 or 4 games. HE is a moody athlete. I would rather us spend the money on some Oline depth, god knows we have had some history of olineman staying healthy.
