re: Redskins Send 5th Rounder to Rams for Carriker and a 5th (Swap 7ths)
Agreed. I do not think this in any way foreshadows moving Haynesworth. Carriker is no replacement for Al. We'd be downgrading massively if that's the plan.

yeah I was just about to say byebye andre carter. Hopefully he'll pan out for us. Not much risk for us in terms that we are only moving back in the 5th round. Chances are we will be able to snag who we wanted to with the higher pick anyways.

re: Redskins Send 5th Rounder to Rams for Carriker and a 5th (Swap 7ths)
I don't think I'd call this a genius move, but it's got plenty of room to be a value pickup.
We're giving up the value of a late 6th rounder, which isn't much at all. But again, Carriker's value isn't high, so this trade will be worth what we can make of it. If we had given the Rams our 7th rounder, that would have been about the same type of value trade, but I think that 1) we certainly would have preferred to have 4 picks instead of 5 going into Thursday (one way or another, I think we'll add more than 4 players in this draft). And secondly, I think there's more that the Rams can do with a top 140 pick than with the 163rd pick and a relatively valueless 7th rounder.

Just made my front 7 prediction look a lot better

I'm just not a big fan of Haynesworth as a teammate/player and his absence for these offseason workouts. I'll be properly shut up if he plays lights out and our D-line is top 5 this year, but I'd rather have a few more higher rd picks to shore up the bigger need- O-line. I meant that I hope some teams miss on positions of need they are targeting and are willing to trade for AH, Campbell after Thursday night so we can get a a few more picks- like a 2nd rd, 3rd rd, and 5th rd or something. We'll see when it's all over on Saturday. |

This team was competitive in almost every game even with the most dysfunctional offensive system in the league and o-lineman off the trash heap. I think this trade was a steal too. We didn't make trades like this with Vinny. |

With that said, our solutions on offense throughout this offseason have appeared to be some combination of the formula (Mike Shanahan's hubris + the 4th overall pick) = wins!! No research I've ever done suggests that is going to work, but both Shanahan's seem quite convinced that it will. Of course, I would expect nothing less.

re: Redskins Send 5th Rounder to Rams for Carriker and a 5th (Swap 7ths)
My solution would have been (talent influx on offense + general competency on defense). Of course, I'll never find out if that would have actually worked, so I'm just going to assume it would have

He misses the boat a lot, A LOT, but credit where credit is due. JLC was the first person (last month) to talk about Redskins interest in Carriker
