Re: On the radar: Skins WR's
Reminds me of a Joke Jay was telling on late night. He was talking about how a restaurant was serving real lion burgers in tribute of the World Cup being in South Africa. And I roughly quote, "how can you do that? You can't make a burger out of lion! If you want to see lion turned into hamburger, go to detroit and watch a Lion's game!" hilarious

Vikings claim Marko Mitchell Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on June 28, 2010 5:53 PM ET Redskins fans think Marko Mitchell got a bum rap when the team waived him earlier this offseason. Lions fans don't really think much about Mitchell, because he was cut within weeks of joining the team. Now Vikings fans can form their opinion of Mitchell after Minnesota claimed him off waivers from Detroit on Monday. We're going to predict that Mitchell doesn't get much of a chance to make an impression in Minnesota either. The team waived waived center Tommy Hernandez and defensive end Cedric McKinley to make room on the roster.

Re: On the radar: Skins WR's
Cut from the Lions?? Guess he wasn't that good after all. Hope the Vikings cut him and he lands back on our practice squad. He was confident, tall, happened to repeatedly get free and had decent hands.
The Vikings are already set w/WRs. There's no way he makes the squad. When the 2nd and 3rd WRs are Percy Harvin and B.Berrian - you know you're stacked. Rice, Berrian AND Harvin would all be our #1 WR. |

Saw WR Anthony Armstrong heading back to review film on a late June Monday. Guess that's how you get to be a breakout guy in mini-camp.

Posted at 11:46 AM ET, 06/29/2010 Marcus Hagans is waived Addressing their surplus at wide receiver, the Washington Redskins waived Marcus Hagans Tuesday. The transaction leaves the team with 11 wideouts. The former U-Va star never saw the field for the Skins after joining the team as a practice squad player in December 2008. He was waived in August of last year and signed again in April. He caught nine passes for 108 yards in two seasons with the St. Louis Rams and Kansas City Chiefs. Hagans' waiver is the first of several moves management is likely to make at the position before the team's season opener on September 12. The Redskins added veterans Joey Galloway and Mike Furrey this offseason to go with Santana Moss, and are hoping Devin Thomas and Malcolm Kelly, both of whom are entering their third year in the league, will break out this season. The wide receiver corps also currently includes two rookies -- Terrence Austin of UCLA and 5-foot-7 Brandon Banks from Kansas State. Second-year player Anthony Armstrong, who impressed at OTAs earlier this month, also is in the mix.

Re: On the radar: Skins WR's
I would not be surprised if they are inquiring what the asking price is for Vincent Jackson. If so, I think that says a lot about Shannahan not really be overly excited about the WR's we do have.

Re: On the radar: Skins WR's
If we do, okay. But this doesn't seem like a signing that this FO would make.

Re: On the radar: Skins WR's
Vincent Jackson would be a serious upgrade over anything we have here at the moment. A deal may be difficult though.

Re: On the radar: Skins WR's
Maybe so, but he has a pending suspension, which puts the team that pays for him in a very vulnerable spot. If we got him at a reasonable deal maybe BA would sign him, but I doubt the Chargers are going to be reasonable in their asking.

Re: On the radar: Skins WR's
We don't need a receiver bad enough to trade for Vincent Jackson. Put it this way, a few years ago the Chiefs had the most proficient offense in the league. Their formula, an elite tight end, solid receivers, a pro bowl QB, and a devastating running game led by a great O-Line, all masterminded by a great offensive mind combination (Vermil/Saunders-Shanahan/Shanahan). Right now we have all of those pieces and then some (Fred Davis is the some).
NFL teams have proved time and time again that having elite receivers is something that's nice to have, not essential. Trading more draft picks to win the Super Bowl in 2010/11 is insane. I mean give us credit, we do have some time to build a team. Right now the only thing left to do is to get everyone on the same page with the offense.

Re: On the radar: Skins WR's
Completely agree with the sentiment that we don't need to bring Vincent Jackson in. I mean, McNabb is used to working with next to nothing at the WR position and when he does have some decent receivers, he puts up crazy numbers.
We have Cooley and Fred Davis as well as a solid offensive mind in Kyle Shanahan to use the pieces we do have. Let's see how we do with the players in place befroe bringing in more disgruntled players.
