Spain has always been overrated and overhyped and they continue to choke in the WC. Don't know why everyone always jumps on their bandwagon. I don't know if them losing to the Swiss was good or bad for my team (Chile) but as long we win, none of that should matter. The matchup next week vs the Swiss is HUGE! |

Ouch...huge upset. The English have to feel better about themselves.

Chile looked really good today. Should have put in a few more of those chances, but definitely a good game.

I was born here, but my father is from Chile and I did a year of High School down there back in 1994. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life. The P definitely doesn't stand for Pinochet, lol. It stands for Pablo. My first name. I agree. They did look really good today. The game could've easily been 3-0. But I'm satisfied with the win and 3 pts. |

Chile's win and Spain's loss made the next few games in that group much more exciting.

I'm not usually one to blame the officiating. But this referee is terrible, made some horrible calls

This ref should be tarred and feathered. Just terrible. Repeatedly terrible throughout the entire match.

Vuvuzela Time! - View any website like you're at the South Africa World Cup! - Read The Warpath like you were sitting in the stands at the World Cup.
The US looked absolutely horrible in the 1st half, then for whatever reason, turned it on and decimated the Slovenian defense in the 2nd half. If it weren't for lousy refereeing, the US would be atop the Group right now. Edu has earned his way into the starting XI I think. I'm glad Bradley stepped up and played brilliantly, including a dynamite goal. I caught the last 15-20 mins of the Germany/Serbia match. Germany looked nothing like they did against Australia. Losing Klose against Ghana could be hurtful to Germany.

Re: The Official 2010 FIFA World Cup Thread
I'm fuming! So angry at that asshole ref. Arrrrrgggghh. The more I watch the replay of that Edu goal- not only was no one offsides, but you could have awarded THREE penalty kick for the holds on Bradley, Altidore, and Bocanegra. WTF was he thinking?
Plus we lose Findley for the next match because this idiot gave him a yellow card for getting hit in the face with the ball. ????? I haven't been this angry at officiating in any sport since the refs gift wrapped a game for Florida State in the Swamp in 2003.

Re: The Official 2010 FIFA World Cup Thread
so proud of the guys in the 2nd half. they showed HEART. cant believe how shit the ref was the entire game. edu's goal was great.
GM, i agree the findley yellow card was absurd, but he is NOT a good player and we will do ok without him. buddle, gomez, and dempsey are all better at striker than findley imo. bradley likes his speed but his touch and field awareness are very poor.
