IF you buy one today at Sears and they mark it lower in the next 30 days they will cut you a rebate check. So you really have no reason to wait.

Re: Buying My First HD TV & Need Help
I recently got a Vizio 46" 1080p LED/LCD with 120hz, and it's fantastic. Got it with a Sony blu-ray player for under $1K at Costco. The TV has that ambient light sensor that adjusts the brightness of the picture based on how much light is in the room. Pretty cool. I would have liked a 240hz, but honestly sports and action movies look pretty awesome to me.

Re: Buying My First HD TV & Need Help
No I kind of got busy and forgot about the TV until my wife's new washer and dryer showed up Friday . So I did a little research yesterday and came up with the Samsung that would fit. The good news is that the washer and dryer have so many different controls and selections I can now tell my wife I don't know how to use them. For some reason they look like there is a bunch of new stuff on them to break.

Oh yeah I saw your post about the dryer. What is up with that? Talk about a money making scam the dryer business has going. When I got my new dryer I told them no thanks I will do it myself. They are like $16 and I think Sears or who ever charges like $50 or $75 to put one on, total BS. Shop Utilitech 6' 10/3 SRDT, 3-Pole 3-Wire Dryer Cord at Lowes.com Plus why doesn't GE or who ever just built it with one. It is like buying a new car getting in it and noticing no windshield, "oh you want a windshield that be an extra $200."

Wow fancy pants! I am bring my wash over. Seriously though a lot of these options on these newer washer and dryers are just gimmicks. My one buddy has to GE washer/dryer combo that talk to each other, The washer tells the dryer how heavy/wet the clothes are and the dryer is suppose to come up the optimal dry time. My buddy said it has never once got it right, he just manually sets the dryer to permanent press 90 minutes but hey it looks fancy right!

I'm shopping for a 37"ish LCD or plasma now...it is a tough decision. A lot of options. I think I'm narrowed down to Samsung and Vizio, but the Toshibas seem to have great reviews and reliability. Go for the Samsung if you think it is your best choice. I have a 42" Sammy 1080p HDTV and it's been great for years.

Re: Buying My First HD TV & Need Help
Guess we all figured that's common knowledge.
Another small piece of advice, get a HDMI cable to hook things up from your box to the TV. It's the best quality cable you can use, otherwise you're not getting everything you can out of your TV. |

Re: Buying My First HD TV & Need Help
Thanks for the info. I just figured that when direct TV said they have so many HD ch. I had them when I hooked up the TV. Now they want $100 for a box and I got ticked and told the guy to go F%#$ them self. I have had their service for 10 years and they can't cough up an HD box. If I was a new customer they would give me the boxs and a few free movy ch.

Actually I challenge you if HDMI gives you the best signal most high end audio/video places use component cables. HDMI gives you the best picture with the easiest hookup but I believe for the best picture you still should run component cables (high end ones). HDMI or Component: Which is Best?
