A lot depends on free agency but my doomsday scenario is Jake Locker at #10. He just screams HEATH SHULER to me.
Guess you haven't seen Locker play. He'd be more comparable to Tim Tebow, just more athletic with a better arm.

FALSE. He's only as good as the people he has around him. That means he wouldn't look too good in Burgundy and Gold next year most likely seeing as our talent pool isn't exactly stellar at this point. I don't like the kid much. I would much rather take Mallet. ....Or Ryan Leaf. lol.

It's funny I went onto Youtube to remind myself about good ole Heath and I found this Interview with Maria Shriver... Priceless!

I wonder what Joe Montana was thinking during this interview.

I admittedly don't watch much college football (game wise but I follow some prospects) but here's what I know. He had a dramatically worse senior year than junior year. He's had one standout season on a team that was bad for 4 years while he was there. In the 2 games vs. the best defense he faced, he was like 6-40 for less than 200 yds and no TD. None of that screams franchise QB to me. It seems that he has some athleticism and some tools but I want my guy to make his teammates better, not need them to make him look good.

Not sure if you're old enough to remember Shuler but he was Tebow before Tebow was Tebow. Great athleticism, dual threat, supposedly had all the 'tools' to revolutionize the position and be a franchise QB for years to come. Problem was he ran the ball so much in college he didn't know how to effectively throw the ball, he was not prepared mentally to be an NFL QB and he wasn't able to develop into a professional QB. Now I'm not saying that Locker will turn into that but he hasn't show me what I want to see as an incoming pro QB.

Jay Cutler didn't really look that impressive stats wise coming out of college yet he was able to make Shanahans system work at the pro level.

The main thing about Locker is that he has even more physical, raw talent then Cutler had coming out. The way he runs a bootleg is a thing of beauty and combined with the arm and leadership qualities, well safe to say you have a QB that would be perfect for Shanahaans system.

I understand that people are scared of Locker because he has all these blemishes but ironically you want to be able to see those when you draft a guy. Don't give me the guy that played with a bunch of High School All-Americans at USC. Instead give me the guy who struggled through adversity. Give me the guy that had no help what so ever, that had to carry an entire team on his shoulders.

Bring him here, let him sit on the bench for a year and develop, because as we all know, with QB's the returns take time and with any franchise you have to build around him while you're waiting for him to develop. You can't hope to build this perfect little team and then acquire your QB because then while your best players are in their prime you're dealing with the growing pains of developing a young QB and in turn you're mistiming your window.

Yes, it hurts me very deeply to even visit this period of my Redskins fandom. I just watched the above video and rehashed it all... I'm now a little gun shy on ever drafting a QB high in the first round all-together.

Shanahan has been said to be a big fan of Locker, no?

That's what I've heard but I'm not exactly SS. Still I don't remember where exactly but last year he was supposedly pretty infatuated with not only Bradford but Locker as well. In fact he's still pretty high on Bradford as he alluded to finding a guy like Bradford in the upcoming draft shortly after benching McNabb for good.

Nice summary Dirt. I am torn on Locker but I enjoyed the little bit I watched of him. He had a tough night v. Nebraska last week but took the game on his shoulders, tucked the ball in & ran like a tailback to get yards. He does exhibit great leadership & 'it' factor, but the pocket decision making is a big question.

I would be happy if Locker was drafted, if only because I'd see a young prospect on the team. But on the other hand, I liked Heath Shuler a lot, so Locker scares me too.

Re: Skins have 10th overall selection. Who do we pick?

if we can't trade out of the 10th pick i'd take the best availible in the first, Kellen Moore as a project in the 5th or so, and OL & DL in every other pick.

we can go free agency for WR. resign rogers and we're good at corner. there are some okay safeties out there in FA but id say thats the least of our worries. Torain at RB. FA for LB's.

the FA pool for interior lineman is deep as well... we'll end up signing someone, hope fully that isn't our plan A though and we draft some young talent.

at QB i'd let grossman start the season and draft a project.

I really thought Barnes played well, especially considering limited practice time at Safety. I wonder if they'll look to keep him there & maybe draft or pickup a cb or two for depth. I hope Los is back.

From limited observation of Locker, he seems MUCH more of a stand up guy than Cutler too. Cutler has never really seemed like a natural leader to me. In interviews he seems shy and/or shady. I know some people hate that part of the job, but fact is you have to face the public
