Chappell gets his chance to play and lights it up against third stringers. Next coming of Elway = Preseason Hero.

On pace for: Practice squad/No. 6 WR spot. Long way to go but had a good opening two weeks. Needs to make plays on special teams in the preseason. Right now he’s behind guys like Terrence Austin and Donte Stallworth. But can you keep Stallworth as a fifth or sixth WR if he doesn’t play special teams. Don’t think so.

I believe this guy John Keim was on sports radio 910 yesterday. He mentioned that Banks has some off the field issues...attitude type stuff. The coaching staff doesn't want to make a long committment to this guy and don't be suprised if he doesn't get cut. Really surprising b/c i've never heard it before.

But yes i'd guess Paul or Austin for that last spot. Paul is known as a special teams standout right? KR?

Moss, Gaffney, Armstrong, Hankerson, and Paul I'm guessing.

I tend to think of preseason heroes more as people not likely to make the team, or at least not expected to. Someone like a Shaun Droughn

He'll be the regular season hero.

In that case I will hedge my bets and nominate the following.

Matt Gutierrez, James Davis, and Issac Anderson.

Guys that could be but I don't want to (ie the getting cut part bums me out)

Terrance Austin, Markus White, and Aldrick Robinson.

I think to be a preseason hero you have to be in position to show up on a stat sheet. If a lineman gets noticed he usually stays.

With the rule change on kickoffs, Banks position is gradually going to become one in less demand. A weapon being handicapped by rule changes.

Really, Banks? Can't claim to know him but he seems like one of those 'nicest guy in the world' types. Fun loving guy, always seems to be smiling, and most importantly turns around field position when someone doesn't block an opposing player in the back.

Banks will still be a weapon on punts. The rule won't affect punt returns at all.

Plus the other thing to remember is that while the total number of touchbacks is going to skyrocket, the value of a long return is going to say the same or possibly get more valuable. It's going to happen less across the league, not just to Brandon Banks.

not writing him off completely, he just doesnt have as much upside. he also could easily be stashed on the practice squad and we wouldnt have to worry about anyone picking him up. now i HAVE completely written off banks and stallworth.
