Unless the rules have changed it's always been that meetings/interviews, etc can take place at team facilities. But actual workouts cannot. That's why the dudes from Indy flew out to Palo Alto to watch Luck workout

Re: RGIII Refuses To Work Out For The Colts (and the other 31 teams in the league)
Apparently there is a rule in the new CBA that around this time frame players are not allowed to work out at teams facilities. Teams are however allowed to work out or meet with players in their home towns. So KS visiting RG3 is ok.
I just don't know why people let this crap get out. I like the idea but why should the fan base need this info and now the Colts know. Not that it should matter but what if for whatever reason the Colts took RG3? I know they won't but what it Luck gets injured before the draft? Or gets into an accident? Or just something stupid that at the last min the Colts decide to take RG3? Or they do it for spite? |

Sorry but a team isn't going to invest millions in a guy over spite. The Colts are undoubtedly working with Luck in some way behind the scenes too.

Surprised to find out the Uconn was his toughest place to play at. It's a shame he refused to work out for the Colts.

Re: RGIII Refuses To Work Out For The Colts (and the other 31 teams in the league)
I kind of think theres something to RG3 refusing to work out for the Colts. I know a lot of people are saying there isn't but there was a point where Griffin was intent on competing essentially to the death to be the number 1 pick.
I propose that somewhere along the way he realized that wasn't as important as going to the team he felt most comfortable with (probably when the Redskins traded up). Maybe it's because he grew up a Bronocs fan and was excited about playing for Shanahan, maybe he wasn't excited about the prospect of playing with the Browns and when the Skins traded up he was relieved, maybe Shanahan sold him on his system over the course of their many meetings. Either way I think that if he was still intent on competing to be that top pick he would have accepted the Colts invitation for a private workout. I mean it is kind of weird that soon after this story came out the Redskins told everyone about how they never even asked for a workout. Anyway theres a multitude of reasons but I think that for one reason or another Griffin decided he wanted to be a Redskin and the most polite way of telling the Colts that was to refuse all invitations for private workouts. That or he knew the Colts had pretty much decided on Luck and he didn't want to be used as potential leverage.

Re: RGIII Refuses To Work Out For The Colts (and the other 31 teams in the league)
I've said this in the other thread, but I think there are three main reasons to be a Redskin if you are RG3:
1) We want him, they don't. (ie. the general fanbase) 2) He'd get TONS more endorsements/publicity here. Rookie salaries about the same. 3) Less pressure to succeed (at least initially). |

You should take them up on the workout...and then become a locker room cancer.

Also, I can't imagine a person like RGIII concerning himself with pressure to perform. He'll have higher expectations for himself than anyone else could ever impose upon him. I doubt that he'll worry one little bit about external pressure; he'll just work as hard as he can to become as good an NFL QB as he can become. |
