Without Googling, tell me what an "assault rifle is" and why should it be banned? And since I can go buy all the .223 I want at Wal Mart, why should I not get it off the internet?

Re: Gun Control Thread- Should we?
Please honestly consider if this was true at this moment. At 16, everyone gets a sidearm. Honestly just think about that right now and look around you, I get nervous. It would be a more fearful society.

Re: Gun Control Thread- Should we?
I don't get it either. Why bother with any laws at all then? Why are we wasting time with such foolishness?

I believe he choose 16 because the original point was about drivers.

To your first question, I know where you're going with this. As you already did in the other thread. But I don't know what the need is to have a rapid fire weapon like that.

I think at 18 every Swiss male gets screened for their army or mitilia. 2/3rds are deemed fit and are forced to join and every member gets issued 2 assualt rifles and 2 pistols to keep at home.

Re: Gun Control Thread- Should we?
If jumping to conclusions was an Olympic sport, you would have already won the gold.
Obviously I did not say the answer is to let everyone have a gun. I'm saying it's fruitless to argue gun laws, since criminals do not follow law anyway. All the gun laws do is keep an honest man honest. Period. And while the theater massacre was horrific and something that I hope never happens again, there was no absolute way of preventing this guy from doing what he did. Even if gun laws were more strict, he would have gotten his material some other way. If he was psychotic enough to kill a bunch of innocent people, what makes you think he would not have used illegal means to obtain his weapons? It's a moot point.
