"Talk about anything Redskins related so long as it isn't on topic"

I would like to talk about a growth near my armpit.
I named it "Eli Manning".

Redskins sign fourth-round safety Phillip Thomas!

Per washington post..

The Washington Redskins announced Friday afternoon that they have signed safety Phillip Thomas to his rookie contract, making him the fifth of seven draft picks to ink deals this week.
Drafted 119th overall out of Fresno State, Thomas is expected to compete for a starting job in Washington’s secondary.

^ I can't wait to see what Jordan Reed brings to the Redskins offense. Since he compares to Aaron Hernandez, you know he's going to be good.

I think he'll be better than Hernandez. I'm with you though, he should be great in this offense. Its usually the guy people are talking least about that ends up being great. Since we're all talking about the secondary guys the most, it'll be Reed that we're all going to say "That may be our best pick of the draft."

Also being that he's a former QB, I believe that at least once we will see him line up in the backfield along side RG3 and he'll throw the ball, almost like what Sanu did against us first play of the game like last year with AJ Green.

But yeah I expect Reed to sign today or tomorrow since he's still out in LA for the Rookie card shooting.

Re: Redskins rookie signing thread

Our secondary is going to be nasty. Amerson, Thomas, and Rambo. Meriweather coming back will only be an added plus. Then we have E.J. Biggers playing the outside on 3rd downs. D. Hall and J. Wilson will again be the starters. The only one out of this group that concerns me is Wilson. He gambles for the interception and like he did against Dallas and Cincinatti, it went for long gains for a touchdown.

That doesn't happen to Wilson as much as it does to Hall.. As for our secondary being nasty - they DO have the potential to become nasty but the question, will they get to that point, is still there. I think it will take a couple of years or so for that to happen.

Re: Redskins rookie signing thread

I wonder how much money we have remaining now. Perhaps enough to sign Eric Winston?

(I'm going to continue to beat that drum until he is a Redskin, or I stop carrying/remembering)

Re: Redskins rookie signing thread

according to overthecap.com, not including Reed, we were at 1.2 Million in cap space.

Also, there are 5 teams that have over 18Million in cap space, so had nearly any other team been hit like we were they would have been doing a whole lot of cut/restructures. I don't think you can give enough Good Jobs to this front office for keeping the team together and for the excitement for this season that I feel as a fan.

I agree. This front office has thrown together an immensely impressive offseason given the circumstances. We came out significantly better than the cowboys and their cap hit was nowhere near the severity of ours. The Skins FO really should be thrilled with themselves.
