Closer to $13M for the whole staff, and another $10M or so to hire a new one. That's a lot of cheddar.

Dan is spending the cheddar. Dan, it is your money, never hire someone that can position themselves to make you have to swallow in order to fire them. Make them accountable.

Redskins football, wash, rinse, repeat. Doesn't matter who they hire, under Snyder they are never going to be what they were 20+ years ago.

Shanahan was a bad hire to begin with, someone who's best days were behind him. Snyder likes the splashy name though. The culture and attitude on this team is so rotten to the core though, it doesn't matter who comes in, they are 4-5 years from contending, if they're serious this time, but I doubt it.

Meh.

I don't know how many MS apologizers still exist out there. This has gone from bad to worse to a total shit show in the last eight weeks.

Good Riddance on the ousting of MS and cronies.

No one challenges Shanahan. We'll never see coaching that bad no matter how long the NFL is around. You'll be able to tell future generations tales of such incompetence.

Re: It's official: Shanahan fired

Shanahan failed but I for one thought it would work.
But Shanahan failed.
I am not gonna blame Snyder for putting faith that Mike Shanahan could get it done as a GM/HC. I would have never expected his coaching would be a bigger problem then his GM skills.

Moving forward this team can have success fairly quickly they have many pieces in place and a lot of money/cap space.

We do need a new model in the front office. And it appears Bruce Allen has assumed that role.

Its one thing to say RG3 is a diva, then it's another to call him a headcase. I guess the insults just get easier to toss. I swear the media is redic, and then people agree? please.

He weeded out the disgruntled players - most notably Albert Haynesworth - but ultimately was unable to stymie what he called the ''circus atmosphere'' that has permeated the Redskins under Snyder. Leaks, rumors and power struggles were just as bad as before. He leaves with the same regular-season winning percentage (.375) in Washington as Spurrier and Zorn.

If I remember correctly the whole Haynesworth situation was a circus atmosphere in itself.

Re: It's official: Shanahan fired

4 years ago we were all singing praises and saying how we finally have a legit football coach and how this is the last hope the skins have of turning things around.

1 year ago the football world was ours. ROY stud qb, high scoring dynamic offense.

Present day, most skins fans are either cursing the coach, the young qb and owner.

This isnt good. I dont know why people are acting so happy right now.

This means we as a franchise has failed miserably yet again. This means the last hope we had 4 years ago and last year is gone . . .

Shanahan had to go as i do believe he leaked that story of him wanting to leave in an attempt to jump ahead in the PR war over his dismal record.

I give DS tons of credit for holding steady until after the season and actually showing some sort of patience. If he had fired mike 3 games ago i believe his rep as an owner would have taken another hit . . .despite this fanbase foaming at the mouth for blood.

DS i give you props. You actually showed more restraint than our impatient knee-jerk fair fan brethren.

Another great thing is that (like mike said in his presser), we as a franchise are finally done with cap problems. no more AH, portis, arch deluxe etc bad contracts or cap penalties. Of course bruce allen deserves alot of credit for cleaning up our salary cap.

cap wise we are a better franchise. bruce is better than vinny. i wonder how much of an influence bruce had on keeping dan patient and waiting until the end of the season?

1000% agree. Really sad day.

Vinny walking out was awesome but this is just horrible.

On the business side we're better, but on the field we're still a bad team w/out that 2nd overall pick... and are going the free agent route to improve the team. That model hasn't worked here. We need to really hit on some draft picks...a few more Jordan Reed's and Alfred Morris types. Even another Amerson who I think has the skills to be a great player.

I thought Shanahan deserved one more year to get things right. Bring back the crew (including Haslett) to right the ship that went off course. Sad day indeed.

Agreed. Would have liked to see the continuity in this offense with RG3 completing a full offseason at improving at the QB position and seeing what we could have done with almost $40 million in cap space *sigh*
