I will honestly wait and see next year before i make a judgement one way or the other. I just hope for the sake of this team that we all love so much, they don't wait too long to make some kind of change if it becomes clear that Griffin is not himself. I'm just like everybody else in that I want a winner and I want to win now. We have all been plenty patient...it just gets frustrating some times when year after year goes by and the skins are at the bottom of the barrel, no matter who is at coach, QB, etc....

I just don't know how this could be the right idea. With ANY QB you give him a few years to adjust to the league. In my opinion, with a player like RG3 with clear athleticism and play making ability, and with so much invested in him, we damn well better give him at least 2 more years to get things right.

It's not a top job simply because we lack talent. But with BA now in charge, and an owner that will spend money, not sure why any coach would not want to come here. I think a lot of the dysfunction left town. The Snyder RG3 relationship issue? Hopefully the cleat chaser will cool it so the new coach can put his stamp on the team.

I'm hearing that Bill Cowher has interviewed twice with Dan Snyder.

Bill Cowher: Great Coach, tons of respect for him. But i think it's a bad hire if they pull the trigger on him.

Bill Cowher will oneday be fired by Snyder, it is inevitable. Bill Cowher left behind a great legacy in Pittsburgh. There is nothing he can do short of winning a superbowl here (which is almost impossible it seems), that will live up to what he did before.

The day he is fired will be a terrible one for Cowher fans, as he deserved better. The man's whole career has been respectable and he is a good leader and a good guy. I do not think he deserves all the BS that flies around in DC...

Leave it to the Washington Post to follow-up a positive quote from Charlie Casserly with a giant BUT and negative sentiment from "anonymous sources". I think Dilfer has it right:

“It is a desirable job. There’s only 32 of them. When people talk about maybe ownership is going to be more patient in Detroit, in Houston — okay, maybe. But if you coach for the Washington Redskins, you’re gonna be paid market value.

“You’re gonna live in a nice area of the country. . . . If you’re a guy with multiple teams after you and you can choose, maybe some of the things that have gone on there in the past can affect you. But guys are not gonna turn it down. Most guys don’t have multiple offers. And you’re not gonna be in a situation there where you’re desperately looking for a quarterback.”

It all comes down to the play of RG3. If he becomes the elite talent he showed the potential to become in his rookie year, the next head coach is going to have to try really hard to screw up his tenure in DC.

Better scheming and a few parts can solve the Defensive issues overnight. They don't have to be a top 5-10 Defense for this team to succeed. They just can't be bottom of the league bad.

I know Smoot hates the term "the media", so take my use of it here with the meaning -- Those in media positions who will always try and spin a Skins story negatively.

Our next coach whoever it shall be, needs to be media savvy, there will be plenty of circus like questions until the coach and FO can get a handle on handling the media. In my opinion, this is one of BA's better attributes. He doesn't come out heavy handed, but he does seem to be able to get his message out, while maintaining a positive spin. If the coach is also likeable (ie not nicknamed demon bunny, or ratface) than that would be a giant step forward for this organization. Even the fact that Griffin left without stopping for a media circus may show that he kinda gets it too.

Great points and I totally agree about BA, he's very savvy. That said if our new HC is a little green I trust BA can manage the situation so it's not everwhelming. I also think a guy who mostly ignores the media would help lol.

If there is anyone who would be motivated to crap all over the job you would think it was CC who got run out of town in deference to Norv Turner. The fact that he has his critical thinking cap on and understands how the league works shows that the job isn't terrible. Or even considered as such in league circles.
