Re: Redskins vs. Seahawks Pregame Thread

With the reckless way Cousins was tossing the ball last week this week is going to be a bloodbath. And let's not forget how handicapped our coaches are...don't expect adjustments.

Seahawks have a ton of talent, but just like a lot of teams, they are an injury or two away from big trouble. RW is a really smart QB.

Re: Redskins vs. Seahawks Pregame Thread

I bet Cousins plays a lot better than last week, with so much more time to get ready. His tendency to over-prepare and the short week leading up the Giants game obviously didn't go well together.

Trent Williams: Seahawks aren't 'unstoppable,' Redskins can win - CBSSports.com

Quote:
The Seahawks are heavy favorites (-7.5) for their Week 5 venture to the East Coast, a Monday night matchup in Washington against the Redskins. Just about everyone is picking Seattle and with good reason(s): Seattle's coming off a bye, the Seahawks are a good football team and Washington was annihilated last Thursday.

Washington tackle Trent Williams would like people to simmer down on going all-in on the Seahawks and believes the Redskins can win, mainly because the Seahawks are "not robots."

"Can we beat them? Yeah,” Williams said. “At the end of the day, they're not robots. They're human beings and nobody's perfect. Nobody plays perfect every Sunday. They have been beaten before. It's not like they're unstoppable. They're a great team, no doubt about it, but anything is possible in the NFL."

This is actually a really great point: typically whatever we think will happen in the NFL is the polar opposite of what actually does happen.

An inability to remove recent bias when evaluating the NFL is about the worst thing you can do. Great example: the Redskins. Kirk Cousins looked like a franchise quarterback against the Eagles in Week 3 and then looked like a undrafted free agent against the Giants in Week 4.

So, um, what happened last week?

“I think just coming off of a hard-played game where we went up to Philly, gave it all for 81 snaps and came up three snaps short, to lose a captain of the defense in DeAngelo [Hall] like we did, it's tough, and to have a quick turnaround against a divisional opponent," Williams said. "It was extremely difficult and I think guys kind of took it for granted. I don't think we put forth our best efforts on Thursday. …

"I think they kind of figured that all we had to do was show up and we'd get that same effort."

Williams also said the level of desperation is "rising" but "not at an all-time high desperate level," which is a little surprising for a team that's 1-3 (with one win over the Jaguars), reeling off an ugly loss (and two division losses) and waiting to host the defending champs on Monday night.

I am alright with the play calling since the Houston game.

1st downs are what matter with our hobbled defense.

"Establishing the run" when the defense is playing the run means a lot of three and outs. Everyone, including myself wants Alfmo to finish games with 150 yards and grind defenses over 4 quarters.

Opposing defenses are going to play our run and put the game on our inexperienced back up qb.

Jay has done a good job of moving the ball and exploiting what the defense is giving.

It's pretty hard to play worse than an ostrich with its head in the sand. Cousins is panicky bastard so don't hold your breath...just hope he isn't koba ugly.

Unfortunately for me, I just can't go with blind faith anymore. This team plays hard. I respect that. When we play well, I can usually deal with a close loss. But last Thursday night was such a debacle, featuring all of the same weaknesses we all know about and have been seeing for so long, that I just can't get up for the Seahawks game.

You know what BOHICA stands for? To me, that describes what I think is going to happen to us for the second week in a row, this time versus the Seahawks. I would rather this game be played in an unlighted coal mine at night than on national TV.
I totally understand.

But with less bravado and more realism on my part, I offer you this: Kirk Cousins is like a box of chocolates, you never know which one you're gonna get. And if we get the Philly Kirk, we could be surprisingly competitive.

The Redskins can win this game. Seattle has a great team but they can be beaten as the Chargers proved....the Redskins just have to play their game and limit mistakes.

Re: Redskins vs. Seahawks Pregame Thread

and p.s. Kirks not Rivers. DONNOT give that scum Sherman anything for FREE. Let him earn it in his little cover 2 zone that phony. If we line up Aldrick on his side thats who hes covering he doesnt move, hes not gonna follow Garcon or DiJax. hes gonna stay right there. i say we run morris at his side and let em lower his head at sherman then take some shots n expose him.

such a phony im worried more about Earl, Kam, Bobby. screw sherman. beat seattle! rant over sorry.

An injury to Marshawn Lynch would make a difference I would imagine.
