I havent been on campus for about 10 years, they always had room for it, but dont think the county or fairfax city really wanted a team.

People who were on the fence will be overwhelmed by the press coverage and by their friends and acquaintances who have been told what to think by the press. Eventually, the fence sitters will change their minds and support the name change.

When it becomes apparent to politicians that there is advantage to be gained by showing support for forcing the name change they will bestow on us their brand of "moral leadership" by writing letters, threatening the NFL, and eventually holding congressional hearings on the issue. In time, the NFL will tire of this unwanted congressional attention and drop their support of Dan Snyder on this issue.

That leaves only Dan Snyder, his minions, and a small group of hardcore fans on his side of the issue. At that point, it's all over. Snyder is not going to win, so why should he go through all of aggravation?

I can think of one reason. I assume that Dan Snyder is working right now on a comprehensive marketing campaign to roll out a new team name complete with new uniforms, lots and lots of cool new gear for fans to purchase, etc. Once this is ready to roll out, he'll announce that he has had a change of heart and the name will be changed. He instantly becomes a good guy who is in the spotlight and in a perfect position to roll out all the good money-making stuff. He'll take the lemons and make lemonade, as he should.

Ultimately, the team name will be changed but the resolution of this issue will not make us a moral people or contribute much to the welfare of Native American tribes. In the end, the primary change in all of this will be that Dan Snyder will get richer. That's how our system works.
I'm afraid you're right. Great post.

That being said, I'm glad Snyder's holding fast with the name. And if he hangs onto it until he's absolutely forced to change, he'll still have my respect. As it is now, the money/attention-seeking Native Americans, vote-seeking politicians, and the other people that are adding their voices to the mix(perhaps in an attempt to make themselves feel better about their own racism?) are having no effect on Snyder and I love it.

Also, I don't think it's a guarantee that a new name, color scheme, and logo would equal dollars for Snyder. A huge change like that would alienate/upset a lot of fans. Many would likely begin rooting for another team.

Jason Reid is very good here.

I can't tell if Bruce Allen has been unable to change the culture of the organization or whether he has changed things, and the new normal just looks a lot like the old normal. I'm not close enough to the situation to see any difference.
Jason Reid is an a**hole there.

First of all, he has no idea whether the Twitter campaign was a success or failure; it certainy lifted out the fact that there are a number of Native Americans that love the team. As far as the other things Snyder has done, Reid brings out a few of the bad ones, but naturally leaves out the good ones. You know, little things like increasing the franchise revenue from $100 million in 1999 to $381 million in 2012. Players like Trent, Garcon, Hall, Fletcher, Moss, and #21, just to name a few, all came here under Snyder's watch. And sure, there've been some bad drafts in the past, like every team has had, but the drafts recently have been great. The 2012 class could very well be one of the best the Redskins have ever had, the 2013 class has a ton of potential if Reed and Thomas stay healthy, and the 2014 class looks pretty darn good too. Listen, Reid, didn't your momma teach you that if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all?

Just leave a**hole. Go write for Cowboys Home

This is a terrible article. All I see is that he regurgitated some of the old team mishaps and somehow connected them to the team name situation.

In terms of the team itself, I don't remember the last time our team had a core of young talented players like they do now. Aside from the McNabb blunder, I don't remember seeing any outlandish free agency moves since Vinny was f*cking things up here. And I can't believe how someone can defend the NFL's actions against the Redskins after the uncapped year.

The sports writers at the post have become so irrelevant in providing news about the Redskins and this article is another proof.

Brian Orakpo Makes Appearance On NFL.com’s Indispensable List

Richard Sherman, Luke Kuechly among indispensable defenders - NFL.com

Ehhh...Orakpo's a great player, but the most indispensable we have? Nope. That would be Trent Williams or Robert Griffin lll. We won the division in 2012 without Orakpo, but it wouldn't have happened without Trent or RG. Don't agree with Schein here.

Also, Sherman on that list is a joke. If he had left in FA, Seattle's defense would still be among the best. And I'm surprised Tom Brady wasn't mentioned; NE would be crap without him, especially last year.

In fairness, they were only talking about defensive players. Given the state of our defense, not sure anyone is "indispensable" but Rak is probably the closest to an indispensable defensive player we have.

I hope that Fletcher is not "indispensable" since he is retired.

I would've probably said DHall since he takes the opponents best WR. The defense played it's best in a while when Rak wasn't on the field ( in 2012) and poorly in 2013, so to me he's not indispensable at all. I want to seE Rak be a difference maker, get a sack to close out a game, get some strip sack fumbles. In other words, make more plays, like Rob Jackson did in 2012.

When it is all said and done, I don't think it will be Orakpo who is our best defensive player. (He is the best now and I think we sign him long term) but in the long run I dont think he will be the best.

FYI Desean Jackson coming up on NFL Total Access. You can watch it now or in one of the 50 million reruns they'll be showing between now and tomorrows episode.

Agreed, although there is a chance Hatcher is the beast of the least this year.
