Re: Who is Kirk Cousins?

KC never made them pay for the pressure. Simple as that.

Back to full-on "KC is who he is and who has always been." Good enough to hang around the league for many years. However, we have seen his ceiling and bumped our heads on it.

Because 30 games is enough to see a qb's ceiling. Please. 30 games on a pretty poor team. I think a run game, better oline play, and a weapon or two more just might call for a re-check on that ceiling.
Edit : check out drew brees numbers after 30 games. Pretty amazing what happened to that guy after he got some help.
Brees had less td's. More int's. Less yards.
Whether or not cousins ever becomes brees is not the point. It is that 30 games is not enough to call it as you think you see it. There is plenty of ceiling left for Kirk.

I still am in disbelief at the numerous folks that believe Cousins has peaked and this is as good as it gets. Had KC been the starter for those 30 games, that would barely be two seasons as being the unquestioned starter. This is isn't even really his first "True" season as starter. He has always had to play catch up to get the reps, work with the 1st team, etc.

He is 7-12 as a Starter i believe. I would love to see how he does with a whole off-season and training camp where the team is preparing with him being their opening day starter. Get him a good O-Line and some weapons and then judge him after another season or two. I am not a smart football guy by any means but i think 30 games is way, way, too early to say that a guy has peaked and won't get any better.

For god's sake we lived and died by Jason Campbell for four seasons and people on here still were like "he needs more time, he is just starting to get into his groove, etc.""

Cousins should have AT LEAST another full season as the unquestioned starter before he is judged. And that means sticking by him through good and bad. He is going to have games where he throws 4 picks. Just like he is going to have games where he throws 4 TD's. I think the good outweighs the bad with KC, and he should have as bright a future here as anyone....

Well said. People like to say that KC is a game manager and he is what he is. Blah blah blah. What is this notion that ,"well if we build a team around him he can be ok". Bullshit. Its a damned team sport ofcourse you build it around him. If he was bad or just ok than he would be replaced. "he isnt the type of guy that can carry a team". Bullshit. There aint a qb alive that could have carried this team the last year and a half. Give the man a run game. Give the man some help up front. Give the man a defense that allows him to stay on the field and in rhythm. Give the man the keys and not only will he "drive the car", he will drive it in circles around damn teams. Thank God SM and Jay know this. Because that is exactly wtf they are going to do and alot of y'all can go eat crow.

Re: Who is Kirk Cousins?

Kirk is a good qb but not and will never be a great one imo. He is too inconsistent down field and he doesn't see a damn blitz coming to save his life

Kirk was definitely shaken by the blitz. I wish there was more in the play book or at least more plays called to counter the blitz. It's like McVay didn't think Dallas would keep blitzing so he called these long drop backs on obvious passing downs.

At least Cousins stood up to the blitz and was able to deliver the football. Also he didn't throw a pick under duress. Cousins had a great game considering the run game was pretty much nonexistent yet again....

I was fine with Cousins play. To me the bigger question was the play selection. To me it seems that no matter who the coach is, I never see this team being able to adjust when the pass protection is not working. Don't know why we didn't see more slants or screen passes to M. Jones.

Sometimes I wonder if McVeigh knows what he is doing. Gruden would be prudent to at least consider replacing McVeigh with a coordinator who is better versed in the West coast offense...

Re: Who is Kirk Cousins?

One thing is important to know about kirk, he's pretty damn clutch in the 2 min offense. He has done it 4 times this yr just last night we lost but overall even dating back to that ravens game he appears to embrace the moment. That throw was a beautiful pass to djax. I think kirk deserves a good contract

Luckily the WP will not be involved in those contract negotiations. Although im sure they will be looking closely at espn's qbr when determining if he deserves to stick around. Lol

Re: Who is Kirk Cousins?

It's funny how Kirk haters go missing when he plays well and they win. Then decide to eat him apart as soon as they lose like he is the only guy on the field. He played well despite not having a run game and poor play calling. Moreover, can't remember the last QB we have had thats been so clutch at the end of games like Kirk.

He did not "play well." He avoided turnovers, that's about it. To me, that's kind of the base line. His yd/attempt was ~5.3 - that is abysmal under any circumstances. (Matt Schaub's against Miami was 6.7, Blaine Gabbert's against Chicago was 6.1, Hasselback was 6.5, Hoyer was 6.8; At the other end of the spectrum Wilson was 10.7 and Tyrod Taylor was 10.1.)

You can say many true things about KC's performance - some good true things, some not so good true things, and some flat out bad true things. However, you watched a very different game than I did if you think he played "great" or "well."

BTW - I am here all day, every day. Regardless of KC's play.
