Im not doubting it, just saying when a backup safety is your best player you probably dont stand a chance.

He didn't play like a backup safety. He was a stud.

Again....i realize that he played great that game. BUT if I told you Reed was going to be the best player on the field that day would you have bet more or less that we were going to win? I think that with any team in any sport your stars have to shine to win. If your role players/backups play above their heads that is a bonus. Usually it is not a recipe for success however. No offense to Willis Reed or Timmy Smith.

Willis Reed??? He was no backup. He was an injured starter who willed the Knicks to a championship way back when...

Anyway, that's how I remember it.

Yeah i know. They were both more like one hit wonders. Probably bad examples but who remembers role players stepping up? Nobody. Because when role players step up and carry the team it means the stars have sub-par games. Which brings me back to my original post about how since Reed was our best player that day we lost. 😎

I agree with what you're saying, punch, but...

Willis Reed = bad example.

Timmy Smith = great example.

Edit: i know he was good, but that one game 7 is who he is today for better or for worse.

If you lived in NY during those years, you absolutely knew that Willis Reed was the heart of that team, short but blocky, strong as an ox, an amazing player. Off the top of my head, the Knicks had gotten DeBuschere from the Pistons, drafted Bill Bradley out of Princeton, Walt Frazier the Saluki from Southern Illinois at guard with Dick Barnett at the other guard. And a wild Afro haired forward all corners and elbows rode the bench learning the game: Phil Jackson.

Stream of consciousness off the top of my head, and I wasn't even a Knicks fan. I guarantee there are millions of Knicks fans who know this story chapter and verse. Willis Reed was the leader if that team. Period.

Anyway, who cares about all that among the Redskins faithful?

It seems like taking the fact that Reed performed so well and using it to as reason for the loss is missing the point. We lost that game for a variety of reasons that have been hashed and rehashed quite a bit.

It seems to me that the point was that Reed was the type of player you want, and honestly the type of player you need. A backup that's reliable and dependable, a guy that has the ability to show up and perform big when he's called upon (like in the playoffs.)

I know it is easier said than done, but Peter Carroll should just keep quiet about his USC exit.

Pete Carroll says he wouldn't have left USC Trojans if he knew of NCAA sanctions - ESPN Los Angeles

Not believable imo. Why say that years later?

Jacksonville Jaguars to have poolside cabanas in stadium - ESPN

I thought it was interesting that this article mentioned we have the highest population turnover of any NFL city, figured I'd share. I knew we'd be up there but had no idea we were #1. At least now we can claim we are #1 in something.

Disrespectfully disagree.

Having 2 pools and 16 cabanas at an NFL stadium is just too awesome. Now if only it was at FedEx Field instead of the darn EverBank Field, you can bet your a** I do my best to make the trip up there to see a Skins game sometime soon(the money, of course, wouldn't be a problem at all. LOL).

One thing that is BS is having NFL Redzone showing on the screens in the endzones. This is Jaguars football; don't show other teams scores' during the game! What's that going to do to the home fans?

Guy #1: "Yeah, I'm here at EverBank Field watching my favorite team play, but it's so crappy, I think I'll watch NFL Redzone so I can see someone besides our opponet score. Hey, dude, check it out; there's actually a team that's putting up points!"

Guy#2: "Yeah, and here we are with a score of a million to zero. That's depressing, bro, let's go home."

Guy#1. "We suck. Jaguars suck."

See what I'm saying?
