Re: Skins vs Texans Gameday Thread
December 2012 - the win over Dallas to win the NFC East was the last win of consequence. It's pretty sad when you have a team full of playmakers, but can't challenge the opposing defense aside from passes to the short flat. I refuse to believe that Houston took away all other options on the field.

Re: Skins vs Texans Gameday Thread
I am not going to worry til week 3 is over. If we are 0-3 then we might be cooked. To be honest, I saw a bunch of mediocre football being played today all over the league, and last night as the Big Ten really stunk it up. I have a feeling this might be a very boring year for football all around. By week 6-7 of both NCAA and NFL, we will pretty know who is going to contend for the big enchilada. Right now it seems to be a rematch of last year, barring injuries, although San Francisco looked pretty good.

I liked the "I" language in Robert's press conference.
Frustrated we didn't win, and especially didn't score more points. That said I think the D and special teams tackling was vastly improved. I hope that part of the game stays like that. |

The league was toying with the idea of moving the extra point spot back because they are so automatic but our guys stood in defense of tradition and proved that shit can be blocked if you suck enough. Proud of my guys.

Re: Skins vs Texans Gameday Thread
Dude, are you kidding me? We have been losing for almost two full decades, with some one round playoffs appearances. The last time the Skins fielded a really competitive team was in '99, and in that I mean a team that could have gone to the big dance. 2012 was nice, but we weren't as dominant as in '99. Gibbs' appearances were nice, but how are you going to get anywhere with Mark Brunell? The folks in here are diehards and losing is unfortunately second nature to us.

I am 99% certain that was Chester taking a play off and Watt was still playing hard. |

That was Chester being Chester.

@JPughNBC4
Watching some of the Skins highlights, C Cory Lichtensteiger was blown two yards off the ball. Causing Rg3 to trip and fumble the handoff.

Re: Skins vs Texans Gameday Thread
Alright, so this is a little late and I haven't read through the whole post game discussion, but here are some quick thoughts...
Hatcher looked good out there. He made a comment earlier this week about how his knee was still a little sore, plus he's 32 already, but as long as he's 100% , he'll be worth every penny. JReed was a huge part of the game plan. Once he went down, things on offense were drastically changed. Some people here are complaining about Jay's game plan, but this needs to be taken into consideration. I'm ready to admit that Griffin didn't play the best, but in his defense, the pass protection was horrible. I'm thinking of one play in particular where he had dropped just a couple of steps and Texans defenders were already coming through the middle of the line. Yeah, yeah, Morris ran for almost 100 yards, but they're obviously way better at run blocking than pass blocking. Speaking of Morris, can the crap about him being a system back finally be put to rest? The thinking before was that he was a "Shanahan" back, but he ran for what, 91 yards with Gruden? This dude is a stud. I would say he's probably the 6th or 7th best back in the league. LOL at the person who said we should cut Paul and Helu. I don't have anymore to say on that. Andre Roberts is my hero. Any guy who can return kicks and punts like he did while playing for the Redskins... the Redskins... is a keeper. JJ Watt is such an effing beast. He was literally the biggest reason we lost today. |

Re: Skins vs Texans Gameday Thread
I don't agree about the game plan, doesn't matter if Jordan Reed is in there or not.
They ran the ball well and needed to run more. In a game where Morris was getting 7+ yards a run, he should've had 30 carries not 14. I don't think Morris is a system back but Gruden is using Shanahans running playbook. Not changing a thing in the running game. Reed either has the worst luck or is the softest player in the league. Re: Skins vs Texans Gameday Thread
On the plus side Hatcher and Keenan Robinson were balling. Kerrigan forced a fumble when we absolutely needed a turnover to stay in the game. Rak is what he is. I've seen enough to know that he isn't nearly the player that he fancies himself to be. Kerrigan has always been the more impactful player when it comes to forcing turnovers. If Trent Murphy develops, the FO would do better to spend FA resources on the O-Line than giving Rak a monster deal.

Fair enough on Morris. I do agree he probably should have got more carries. |
