I'd rather not have a player who will probably be retired by 2013 and contributing NOTHING for us then. You're wasting a roster spot for what? One extra win? The first-step of field a top tier team is finding a good deal of LONG-TERM assets with potential for LARGE returns, not constantly grabbing short-term players with lesser returns. T.O's close to done. Hankerson might not be a superstar or even very good right now, but he still has a CHANCE at this point in his career to become that elite WR we need.

I have a question. Even if we do get a rookie qb next year, how do we know he will fare the same as the other rookie qb's in the league. All the other rookie qb's get the playbook scaled back to make it easier on them, and their playcallers put them in position to do what they do best. Kyle S. hasn't exactly shown that ability so far.

Where is the sad...... What we did positive thread....... I'm glad Cam torched our ass, cause he wasn't good, his accuracy is bad, he is a bad kid...... He has only won, and been found guilty of nothing...... Nut the Shanahans bet our season on Rex and Beck, which who cares if he played solid, we LOST!!!_!

Beck threw it well in the second half. Sean Locklear shut down one of the best rushers in the game. A couple of offensive bright spots in a sea of suck.

The defense gave up 30 points today, which wasn't good, but if they could just recover a fumble sometime, they'd have given up like 2/3s of the points they have this season. They are close to being a great turnover defense.

Re: Carolina Panthers vs Washington Redskins Gameday Thread

Someone get SBXVII A Rex Grossman avatar please.

Beck played better today then Rex has all year.

I really do think our offensive play calling might be the worse in the league though. Just seemed like in the first half we were scared to let go of Beck's leash a bit. Obvious Bootleg calls getting the QB punished, Torain losing yards again..

I think we had, what? 6 dropped passes today that were wide open? Two by Gaffney who is suppose to be our possession WR?

Hankerson runs some sort of go route like he doesn't even know what he's doing out there lol

Austin looked sharp and Paul made plays when the ball came his way.

What bothers me, and iv'e been saying it all year is we let teams grind on us on defense and we don't make any plays anymore. Teams can just chunk at us all game and I really think that kills our offense because our offense never gets into a zone being off the field for so long

Or he could just be Devin Thomas. You like playing that risk/reward chance card. Most people don't come out and end up being like Cam Newton or Darelle Revis and just naturally being a beast, but you can at least get a good feel for how they're going to be by watching them play. I don't get good feelings from Hankerson. I didn't in college. I didn't in pre-season. I don't now.

With the black cloud that seems to hover over this team, the rookie QB that we draft next year will look every bit like a rookie QB -- it'll be back to normal after a blip of unusual success for 1st year guys. This team will re-set the trend. Count on it.

Right, and TO is the equivalent of US T-Bills? Absolutely not. Let me drill this into your head. EVERY move in football carries a degree of risk. You cannot avoid it, but can sure as hell manage it and figure out how to maximize your returns. T.O will not help us in anything but the short-term, and even THAT might not work out, i.e Randy Moss in Tennessee. With Hankerson, he MIGHT fail or he might step it up and succeed. Right now, no one but the coaches really know. Next year though, his outlook will become more clear.

Good can be taken out of this win. It brings our defense back to reality and it makes it clear that our passing attack doesn't work.

Not blaming him at all for the terrible defense...

But did Kerrigan even get one tackle today?? Did he play?? Don't even remember seeing him today. Was he there?

Considering he was on the practice squad and ran around like he didn't know what the play call was, I'm going to think the coaches think he's not prepared to play at the NFL level right now either.

My hat's off to Cam Newton....excellent job for a rookie, he shredded our defence today making plays a rookie QB wouldn't normally make. Maybe our defense is not as good as we thought they were.

This is something that's been bothering me. Look at Tampa last year, they go youth and they let them play. Let's see if Paul and Austin have anything.

Worst case scenario? They both suck and we try again.
Best case scenario? One of the two put up 400-500 yards and we look forward to another offensive threat in our future. It never hurts to start early.
