I was going to say Sammy Baugh before opening this thread, but now I am switching to D. Green out of spite.

That's just my dumb opinion. And with that being said, I'm glad that the only kicker to ever win the award was a Redskin. And I still say The Red Snapper is the greatest Redskin ever.

Re: Who's the BEST Skin of ALL TIME???????????
Of those I've seen:
Best: DG Best lighting it up: Sonny I can't compare Baugh to DG. I do know one thing you left out is one year he averaged 50 yds/punt, a record no one else has ever approached. It is impossible to compare play from the two eras. Arguably, Baugh was better than DG because when polls are taken, the "performances" viewed recently always receive far better "marks" than those from long ago. (This effect is easily visible, for example, when they make their list of "best movies of all time.") But the talented athletes of today make a career of it (since one can make a good living doing it) and (in most sports) they train much more than they did in the old days. (But don't look at the beginning days of the Tour de France, where many days were 250 miles over unpaved mountain passes. They weren't allowed outside help either. A winner was disqualified because a welder helped him solder his bike back together after it broke in two!) So I'd have to say Sammy Baugh and Darrell Green are the greatest of all time. They are literally "incomparable". |
