Re: Should the Redskins consider LSU Safety Laron Landry with the 6th overall pick
i hardly ever post here but check it out everyday. the point of a thread is to see different opinions and try to see all sides. that said, you porterhouse are an ignorant douchebag. i got into a heated debate with someone a while ago and said some stuff that was unnecesary and got a polite message from smootsmack saying to please refrain. that's it. like i said, i don't hardly post but check it out everyday and see the same people everyday. same opinion or not. i do hope you get banned though.

I wanted to respond to this faster but I was temporarily banned for saying that we should bring in David Carr to compete with Campbell.

Re: Should the Redskins consider LSU Safety Laron Landry with the 6th overall pick
Yeah, it would be nice to have another top end safety, but, I may be a puppet here, I think that a DT or DE would be best for our D. Before everyone starts calling me "Pinocchio" hear me out. I look at the Pittsburgh Steelers D. I mean for the longest time there secondary sucked. Thier corners got beat like they stole something. But thier D was always in the top 10. That is because they had a very good front 7 that could rush the QB. IMO, you do not need to have top secondary players if your front 7 keeps the QB on his back or on the run.
So I believe that by drafting a stud DT or DE that will indirectly help out secondary...

I agree. We have a physical enough secondary that if they don't have to run around for 8-10 seconds during every pass play because there isn't any pocket pressure they should be pretty good.

Very similiar with Jacksonville's D as well. They have an outstanding front 7 which makes their corners look decent. When the corner leaves and plays for a team with a terrible D-line, his sub-par play becomes spotlighted. On the other hand, secondary and D-line compliment each other. If the secondary is truly a shut down unit then the QB has to go through more reads to find the open man. Which means more time for the "sack masters" to get to him. If the sack masters can get to the QB faster then the secondary doesn't have to cover as long. It's very similiar to peanut butter and jelly. Both can be okay individually but together they form the perfect combination.

I think this post got lost in the mix, but I like the thought here... the only problem I see is that the Vikings dont seem to be taking any interest in him and we certainly don't need him, so the Falcons should probably be content not trading up to get him... They just lost kearny, so I don't think they would be against taking a d-lineman if they gamble and lose, and since their secondary is not exactly the weakness on that team... I see them addressing their front 7, or even an offensive player in their draft if landry is gone. I just think if he's there at 6, he'll probably be there at 8...

Re: Should the Redskins consider LSU Safety Laron Landry with the 6th overall pick
Landry is something special. Having both of those guys would be awesome! Not likely with us signing Omar and PP coming back from the injury. The guy is an excellent cover Safety which would allow us to blitz Sean Taylor more. Landry is a ball hawk. We need guys who are going to create and make big plays on defense. Remember that thing called a turnover??? After last year I'm not sure if we do..........

Re: Should the Redskins consider LSU Safety Laron Landry with the 6th overall pick
i had a dream last night that i had to make the draft choice out of nowhere, and for some reason the first 5 picks were defensive ends, and i took landry...maybe its a sign
