Re: Keyshawn Johnson released from Carolina.

I think people just don't like Keyshawn because he's a douchebag.

We've hated him for years and just because he were to be on the Skins doesn't mean any of us would like him any better (like Dallas fans and TO).

Re: Keyshawn Johnson released from Carolina.

Adding another receiver to disrupt the schedule Campbell is already on with his current receivers would be bad enough even if it were somebody younger with more of a future ahead of him than Keyshawn.

I also think the height thing is overrated with wideouts.

No thanks.

For what logical reason would you think height is "overrated" for a WR?

I think the precedent was established with the Rams in 1999. Holt, Bruce, and Hakim were all under 6 feet tall, yet they were virtually unstoppable. At that point, many offensive philosophies shifted from big, lanky wideouts like Rice, Irvin, Chris Carter and Jake Reed to smaller, shiftier guys with the emphasis on speed.

Also, the NFL today is more about timing and a receiver’s ability to avoid tackles after the catch. You don’t see too many jump balls lobbed up in the hopes that the tallest man wins.

Bottom line is, teams are recognizing that having a 6'2, 6'3, or 6'4 receiver is a nice bonus, but not a necessity.

I agree it's a nice bonus. Santana is living proof you don't have to be 6'5"

Now this is from memory but I don't think Rice Carter and Reed were very tall. Sorry no commas on this keyboard.

Re: Keyshawn Johnson released from Carolina.

Regardless of what you think of Key's personality, you can't deny his ability to go over the middle and take the big hits- time after time, he'd move the chains. Alot of players with similar egos never block like KJ, either. For a guy who does a lot of talking, he goes 100 percent on the field and does the dirty work.

His stats from last year don't lie, reguardless of what he does or does not do off the field.

He can damn sure play on Sunday!

KJ could end up with the G-girls:
Big Blue could grab Keyshawn - Giants - NY Daily News

Re: Keyshawn Johnson released from Carolina.

Question:

This season: Who would be the better receiver production wise on our team. Brandon Lloyd or KJ?

I'd have to say this season only, I'd rather have KJ. The fact is... Lloyd is young, and he's probably got much brighter future, but this season I would rather have a KJ. There both head cases, but only one of them has done anything on the field.

I don't think I'm insane to suggest that... but i'll probably be called so.

I'm not saying we go get him, because I'm having confidence in Gibbs ability in controlling Lloyd and developing him into a productive receiver.

I do not want both of them on the team either.

So in essence, leave him alone.

(forgive me if this was already discussed)

First of all, not sure if this was discussed or not?
IMO I would take KJ over Lloyd any day of the week. I would go one more step and say being we are, at least money wise stuck with Lloyd this season it APPEARS?
If he doesn't turn it around this year I would think he's gonna be gone anyway. There seemed to be a question early on, whether him or arch would go? I wish we would have been smarter with the contract's so we could have dumped both.

According to profootballreference.com, Carter and Reed are both 6'3, and Rice is 6'2.
