Re: Bears waive troubled DT Tank Johnson
I'd love to see Gibbs sign Tank for last 8 games of next season with behavior clause and workout clause. He'd probably be really helpfull last half of the season if he didn't goto jail. I understand cleaning up the leauge and I understand the Bears cutting him. But I'm definitely not against the Redskins signing him now for minimum with clauses. If Gibbs can't work it out it usually isn't meant to be.

Re: Bears waive troubled DT Tank Johnson
Another thing to think about for Tank is that he very well may be out of shape after his 6-8 game suspension. Here are the highlights of the $665 dollars mostly spent of junk food while locked up for 60 days:
• 162 beef sticks • 40 honey bun sweet rolls • 35 summer sausage blocks • 35 bags of barbecue chips Not sure what a summer sausage block is but it sounds good. But is spending a roster spot on a potential beast tackle for years to come for500k really that much of a risk, if he truns out to be D. Russell after his suspension is up we can just let him go. I'd sign Tank next season. Perfect for a late season D-line boost. If things are going well he'll rotate in.

He saying Ray Lewis seems to have learned his lesson by staying out of trouble. Tank still seems think he's untouchable.

I think Tank will be a great citizen once all this blows over.

Honestly though, it wouldn't surprise me at all if Tank actually went back to the Bears. Provided he flys straight and narrow the next few months DGreene, how are things?

Re: Bears waive troubled DT Tank Johnson
While I would agree that the dude is a thug. All the brush's with the law bear that out. Additionally, if you threaten a cop (your not the only one with a Glock), your stupid factor is through the roof!
However, a detail admittedly, but one close to my heart. If owning an "assault rifle" makes you a thug, I am one as well. The whole assault weapon thing was just spin by some politico's for a do-nothing law on a public that effectively did not know better. An "assault weapon" is basically no different than any other weapon. They just look evil.

Re: Bears waive troubled DT Tank Johnson
Owning an assault rifle alone wouldn't make someone a thug, though I don't understand the need for it, but that's really not the issue.

I understand your position on the issue, and I'll cease my attempt at thread hi-jack at this time!

I too own a assult weapon, and there is nothing thugish about me. Though i dont know all the specifics about his gun case, his defense was that he is a resident of Arizona where you dont need to register your firearms. I believe IL has strict gun laws, and firearms are banned in Chicago. So this unregistered firearms charge sounds like a careless mistake on his behalf, not him just being a thug. Now the fact that he got a concelled weapons charge ealier in IL makes it a really dumb careless mistake, but most likely just that. |
