Re: Thoughts on Skins vs Titans

I'll add to what Offiss and someone else said about Buges. I'm starting to wonder, and not just because of one preseason game, but it seems he's one step behind when making adjustments and recognizing schemes. This even seemed to be the case going back to '04.

But let's get real, no need for doom and gloom after one preseason game. Afterall, I did pick the Skins to go 10-6!! hahaha

I gree. But if you remember it took us to time to decide if we were going to be a passing team or a running team or a little of both. After we made up our mind, then the offensive line started to click.

Good point.
I still think our line is a good one, even with Wade. Bugel will reel them in and get them back to form.

Re: Thoughts on Skins vs Titans

Did Corey Bradford do anything tonight? I saw him take the field for one play.

I was happy to see Justin Hickman out there. He had a nice play there at the end knocking Rattay out of the way and pursuing that fumble.

Campbell looked ok (got to hold on to the ball!); Hoyer looked decent, Wade did not; Collins looked as I expected. Against inferior talent he will always look good because he knows that system so well. I wish Palmer had played some though.

Overall, a win is nice but there's still work to do. I'm glad they didn't come out like gangbusters though. A little humility to start preseason is always a good thing in my opinion.

And I guess the Madden curse has already begun for Vince "Crosby, Stills, Nash, &" Young

No Bradford did not have any receptions tonight, I really don't think he was even in the game for more than a play or two.

Forgot to mention Heyer. He looked kind of good if you ask me. Good in the sense that he moves like a real deal NFL lineman. Of course he had some big screwups tonight, but you could also really see some raw abilty. He looks like he could add some muscle to that big frame. If he develops we are very lucky to have him as a young backup tackle with upside. Some of those washed up backup vets on our line give me the fear. What a bunch of softies.

Re: Thoughts on Skins vs Titans

We had a pass rush that yielded hurries but no sacks.

Chris Samuels needs to come back soon. Both of the fumbles came from Campbell getting sacked from his blindside.

Defense looks good. Both of our middle LBs had 6+ tackles, which means that the D-Line is occupying the O-line making it easier to get tackles.

Campbell looked good when he had time.

After watching the blind-side sack again, it was not Heyer's assignment, it was the wide-out who failed to chip the blitzing Cornerback. I couldn't see if it was a WR or RB, but whoever was lined up outside of Heyer was at fault, not him, he actually had his guy locked up pretty well.

Re: Thoughts on Skins vs Titans

The O-Line play prevented the offense from getting anything going. Jansen, Wade, and Heyer all looked horrible. Heyer, I don't care about, but the others are a cause for concern. This is suppossed to be the strength of our team.

On the bright side, I thought the defense, especially the front seven looked good. Kedrick Golston is solid, I don't care what anyone says.

They have a lot of work to do. Also, the offense was as bland as last year's preseason. No pre-snap motion. Ran basic running plays on first and second down mostly. This would make me feel better, ecept the O-Line shouldn't look so bad on such basic stuff.

There was pre-snap motion. The two biggest passing plays came off receivers in motion. ARE's first down catch and Santana's nice long reception.

Re: Thoughts on Skins vs Titans

Jason Campbell looked pretty comfortable when he wasn't getting pummeled. He had a couple bad throws, but overall I think he made good decisions and had a few decent throws. Mark Brunell had a real nice throw, but was under durress much like Campbell was so didn't have a lot of chances. Todd Collins looked the most consistent, had some good looking passes and led the team for it's only offensive touchdown. I'm not reading too much into that since he was playing against guys who won't even be on a roster this year. Santana Moss looked good, I was worried about that, ARE had a decent catch, other than that, not much else from the receiver corps that's expected to be here after preseason. The O-Line was pretty bad. I'm not too confident in the depth there either let alone the starters. Chris Samuels coming back healthy will help, but there's more to it than that. I hope Bugel figures this one out in the next few weeks or we're in trouble there.

Defense, all I can say is I'm looking forward to bigger and better things this year. Depth looks good. Starters were flying all over the place. They stopped the run. Gave up a few big plays, but I think overall it was a big step forward from what we saw all last year.

Frost was pretty damn good. Suisham? Well, I'll give him another week, but he didn't impress me. Way too inconsistent on his kickoffs: one five yards deep in the endzone, one at the two yard line and one directly out of bounds. Other than that special teams did decent, one run back did get away from them, and we didn't do anything special on returns.

Looking forward to progress next week, especially with the offense.

Re: Thoughts on Skins vs Titans

As most people have said I think the positive we can take out of this is the win(and the positive attitude it brings for us) and our first string D's performance.
