I used to think yes but now I am a no. I dont see the Skins ever getting ahead of Dallas or NYG in the division and I dont think they will be better than 9-6 and I'm not sure that can get them the other wild card.

Re: Will the Redskins Make the Playoffs

After this weekend I'll have a better indication, but much like the loss of Springs in 2006, the loss of Rogers is going to hurt more than I think anyone would imagine.

As of RIGHT NOW, I say "no". I say we end the season at 8-8 losing one or two more of our classic let-down games (maybe against Buffalo, the Bears or the Vikings). Sure, the Jets aren't exactly a passing juggernaut, but I want to see how we'll fair against their passing attack before making any judgments. If I don't see a huge drop off, I'll move my opinion to "yes" with a record of 9-7 or 10-6. I think the Eagles will still give us problems at home and we'll be lucky to split with the Cowboys.

Officially "no" and will readjust my prediction after this weekend.

Re: Will the Redskins Make the Playoffs

I am having a hard time saying yes at this point. We have 1 game against the Giants (in NY) 2 against Dallas,no gimme against Buffalo right now, they are playing very well. Minnesota, Tampa Bay, the Bears. I just dont know how I feel. On one hand I like to say we should win 5 or 6 of the next 9 games. But that will be very tough. that is saying we beat the cowboys once, beat Minnesota on the road, and possibly the Giants on the road. of the teams we have left Most of them have decent to pretty good olines, decent to good dlines and pretty good D's. We have struggled to score against teams with so - so D's. Honestly, I would be surprised if we went 8-8 this year. I just see nothing through seven games that makes me think we can keep up with the giants and cowboys. We can't score, nor will the coaches takes the steps to put points on the board.

And... are we counting on a total collapse by Detriot? They are 5-2, you know.

I know we beat the living piss out of them, but aside from the games with us and Philly, they've played solidly.

They've been bad though.

They might have played their best game of the season against Chicago, but they still have GB twice, Dallas, the Giants among other teams.

A 4-5 finish (extremely optimistic) only gets them to 9-7, and we hold the tiebreaker.

So how can you be so sure we are going to even make it to 9-7?? We have to play Dallas twice. That could very well be two L's.

Well, we are a better than average football team, so we deserve to make it to 9 wins. With a little luck, we can get 11.

Deserving only gets you so fair, but I can't predict as to have an unfair world.

Re: Will the Redskins Make the Playoffs

Put me down as a no. Dallas will own us in both games, as will NYG in the game up there. Even TB would beat us on their home field.

Btw, no playoffs means Gibbs 2.0 is done in DC and will surely walk away.

I really do not think that Dallas will own you at FedEx in the last regular season game.

IF Dallas has clinched the division and a playoff spot, then you probably will not see the starters too much in the second half and some very conservative play calling so the starters won't get hurt. It is in FedEx too.

Also I think that Washington will need that win to get that wildcard spot.

If you look at Detroit, they are in the same boat as Washington, they have a division game last week of the season against the Packers. Who may mirror Dallas, and have thier division locked up and clinched. So, the Packers will not want to get anyone hurt as well.

I think the Lions and the Redskins will fight it out for that last wild card spot. Washington owns the tie-breaker.

You can realistically estimate that the Lions can finish 10-6 and the Skins 10-6. But with Washington owning the head-to-head tie-breaker.

After the Skins and Lions, there just is not any NFC Team that leaps out as a contender for that second wild-card spot. The first Wild-Card, I predict will go to the G-Men or Dallas, depending on which one of those wins the NFC Beast.

That is just the way I see it.

Re: Will the Redskins Make the Playoffs

I could see anywhere from 9-7 to 11-5.

We're an above average football team who is at it's lowest point in the season due to injuries and scheduling. The important thing obviously is that we finish strong.

If we don't improve as a football team, the statistical playoff odds report gives us a 1/3 chance of being a playoff team.

The thing is, I would bet handsomely that this offense makes great strides over the second half of the season in the passing game. That could improve our team a lot, and I still think our chances of catching Dallas and New York are very good. We just need to take care of our business.

I'm pessimistic about this week, but I'm optimistic about the season after this.

Remember, if we can take care of Philly next week, they still have a home game with both Dallas and New York. We could gain some serious ground on those teams when they start playing in the division.

Re: Will the Redskins Make the Playoffs

Sorry fellas. I'm typically an optimist when it comes to my views of the 'Skins, but I'm gonna have to say no and pray that I am proven terribly wrong at the beginning of the post season. I simply believe that our O-line problems are going to be too much to overcome. That area is the reason our running game has suffered, not Clinton Portis thank you, and Jason Campbell is now running for his life. Anything can happen and hopefully we can somehow keep plugging decent bodies in on the offensive line. But that will be quite a challenge to say the least and I think we will be watching the playoffs from the sideline...again. :-(

With all that being said, I strongly believe that this team will make the playoffs and here is why. Yes, the defense got demolished by the Patriots, but what defense wouldn't? The defense is stout and, with the emergence of Rocky McIntosh and the additions of guys like Laron Landry, London Fletcher, and even David Macklin, this defense will return to form next week. The offensive line is really banged up, but I cannot help but think that time itself and Buges' coaching up will help improve things (even if the O-line doesn't become a source of strength). Portis, Moss and Betts, IMO, are not the Hall of Famers we want them to be, but they are too good to continue playing like they have. Does anyone really think Portis, Moss, and Betts can play any worse? Jason Campbell is young and has just 14 starts under his belt and should improve with time. Finally, after this Sunday we should be 5-3 in a weak NFC with a schedule that isn't a cakewalk, but isn't exactly tough.

So, my question to you is, will the Redskins make the playoffs this season?
Nope. How can anyone say we are going to make the playoffs scoring 14 points a game??? It's crazy. Three teams are not going to come out of the NFC East. Cowboys and Giants are going to make because they are: 1. better than we are. 2. both are ahead of us.
