Re: Clinton Portis on the JT Show
Every player is still embarrassed from the hip hip thing. If you did that at my job they would fire you after they beat you with a pipe. He's never gonna get it. All I'm sayin is just listen to Zorn. I can't put my finger on it but it sounds like he has no clue.
I think he's done. Last edited by Dblock804; 12-10-2008 at 08:34 AM. |

Re: Clinton Portis on the JT Show
Lets see...the team does well we and the players are all hunky dory. The team starts its spiral down it's slippery slope and people on the message boards go nuts with let this guy go and find someone else for this position. Basically throwing people under the bus including Zorn at times. Even joking that our 3rd string QB can play every position.
Even the Coach got in the act calling players out. From Rookies to Vetrans. Now finally a player speaks his mind as has everyon else and we should slap his hand and tsk, tsk him and say "No Portis you should not be calling people out in public." I think we all can agree with Portis. Heck most of you said the same thing. and to be honest if the Coach is the type to call people out in public then he better have thick skin to be called out himself. Otherwise don't call people out in public. Praise them as has several coach's in the past not just Gibbs and handle them in private. I agree with Portis. Now lets see if Zorn can make amends and right the ship before it completely sinks. These next few weeks and break into next year will tell what type of coach he really is. As for Cowher I really don't see this happening. I think he is a far better coach and definitly would take the Skins somewhere but unless Zorn has a hard on for Cowher and was simply biding his time he should have let one of the previous coach's take the helm and fail so he would look good bringing in Cowher. Now he will definitly be the laughing stock if he make another HC change. We would be right up there with the Raiders. I also don't think we could possibly bring in Cowher as HC and demote Zorn to OC. I think the ego's would be a thing to deal with and Zorn would not take the embarrassment. Zorn better figure it out though. I'm betting he wants to impliment more offense and the players are not getting it or atleast some are not getting it. So he has to keep it simple and basic and other teams have figured it out. |

Re: Clinton Portis on the JT Show
JZ is all about the team and not about the man. CP is a baller, no doubt. He is also somewhat of a Prima Dona. He will get with the program (and all will be well), and though most if any guys won't say it, they will appreciate his supermodel status being dropped a notch. No "I" in team. CP will figure it out.
AND if he does not, there is an offseason to deal with the mediocrity this team has become. Possibly many faces will not be here next year, and I personally am not opposed to it. See SS thread: http://www.thewarpath.net/redskins-l...-redskins.html Zorn has the choice when dealing with player issues. Be like Tom Coughlin, or Wade Phillips. Which do you choose???

Re: Clinton Portis on the JT Show
P.S. What happened to Jason faking the wide receiver screens and faking the reverses to Randel El during every play. That makes linebackers think. Which is always good for the offense.

Re: Clinton Portis on the JT Show
Portis seems like the kind of player thats great when the team is winning and everything is going well but now that he and the team are having a hard time he starts pointing fingers and finding someone to blame. Under Gibbs CP could do what he wanted and he knew Gibbs would cover for him or take the blame, for better or worse Zorn doesnt work that way and CP doesnt like it. I think CP showed the real CP yesterday and unfortunately he's a no-class baby who is not smart enough to realize that Zorn was protecting him in a game the Skins couldnt win.

Re: Clinton Portis on the JT Show
I think the problems with this team is based on winnning and losing. When you let teams overload one side of the line with a linebacker and safety and get away with it, I say you are not a good strategist. When teams overload one side they leave themselves open. Of course the QB will not have time to go through progressions. Wide receiver screen I say or Tight end screen to Cooley I say. Those plays are extremely potent. When defenses don't have a safety to cut Moss off on his way to the end zone. They will call a more balanced defensive set next time.

If Zorn ever put Portis on the bench because he gave up on a game in which the team was behind by 14 points then I say fire Zorn right now. A game they could not win? I could not disagree with you more, rirsh. They should have won that game. |

The other thing that nobody seems to want to acknowledge is that maybe CP wasnt ready and didnt understand the schemes. Zorn's honesty has been praised on this site but now that he's said a fan favorite wasnt quite ready to play he is ripped. It amazes me how loyal the fans are to this bunch of players that hasnt done anything. Coaches have changed but a lot of the core players have stayed the same. I'm starting to think this core group that hasnt won squat is the problem. |

Re: Clinton Portis on the JT Show
just a follow-up here
Later, Zorn publicly addressed Portis’ concerns. “Well, any time you don’t go in, that’s the way you feel,” Zorn said. “And he is a big part of our offense and he’s sitting on the bench, he’s got to feel like he’s benched, I don’t blame him for that.” As for whether Portis should be placed on injured reserve, Zorn said: “No, I think he’s gotten himself healthy, I think he felt a lot better after this game and I’m looking forward to having him out there on every snap, practicing [and] getting ready for the Cincinnati Bengals so we can use him as our every-down back.” NFL.com Blogs » Blog Archive Portis, Zorn speaking through media «

^What a jerk. How does he get away with such disparaging remarks?

Re: Clinton Portis on the JT Show
Sorry but I find it funny that people aren't jumping on CP for airing crap like this out to the media. He is a veteran player and should know nothing tears a team apart more then doing crap like this. If TO did this, we would be commenting about how TO is such a cancer and glad he isn't on our team. Portis is probably the best player on our team and needs to be a leader and true leaders of teams know you keep this in the locker room.

No, not just jumping on CP. I find it funny that Zorn has been airing garbage all year and no one is jumping on the coach. Some are trying to say it's ok for the coach and not the player. All I'm saying is "What's good for the goose is good for the gander." Don't jump on CP if you didn't jump on Zorn. We have inside info to the Skins soap box locker room like everyone wanted and now everyone is crying foul. You can't beat your children for doing something wrong then go right out there and do it also. and I grew up with the "do as I say and not as I do" parents. |
