Re: Clinton Portis Loves Marko Mitchell
Ok, so now Vinny is making better picks in the latter rounds with Marko this year and Horton last year. If he keeps this up I'll stop bad mouthing him. Vinny, please draft a tackle in the first or seventh round.

How about you see if he makes the team first and then let him crack the third string wideout spot before you anoint him a selection comparable to Horton.

Yeah I am. I wouldn't have taken the time to post if I didn't believe it. How about you lean back, open your mouth, and picture me rolling.

You better hope your boy is a better tackler on special teams than a receiver, 'cause he's not making this team without special teams assistance. Keep drinking up the imaginary preseason hype...I hear people get really dehydrated when their rollin'.

Re: Clinton Portis Loves Marko Mitchell
2 really good reads on M Mich, Big Fase 100, LL, or MM:
"This guy's awesome," Smoot said. "He can play. I think why we love him is because he's scrappy. Two of us have already jumped on him, vets, [and] he fought us good and back, and we like that. We like that, man. Usually when a football player likes another football player, you mess with him....I think he's a guy that can step in and help us. He's a competitor, he's 6-4, he can run and he can catch, he fights for the ball. That's all you need, and play with some passion, and you can play in the NFL." As for the scoring play, teammates said Mitchell and Malcolm Kelly have been staying after practice with a variety of quarterbacks to work on fade routes, and that paid off on the third-quarter red zone play, when Mitchell easily out-leaped his man for the ball. D.C. Sports Bog - Marko Mitchell is Lanky Livingston Santana on LL: "Marko was doing his thing all camp," top wideout Santana Moss said. "They [Washington's defensive backs] have a hard time with him. All the DBs, they talk about him every day. "When you've got a guy like Marko, he's before his time," Moss said. "You can look at the way he handles himself. I mean, yeah, he's young, but he can play football." Redskins Insider - Moss Says Mitchell Was the Talk of Camp I am officially putting him above Devin Thomas on my WR conceptual depth chart. So i have: Moss Kelly El LL Thomas

Re: Clinton Portis Loves Marko Mitchell
Not better than our top 4 yet, but I think he deserves a try for #5. He'll probably need a year or two to develop, but great potential for a big & fast guy. Compared to the other #5's we're considering - he dwarfs them & is still actually pretty fast.
40 yard times MM (LL) -- 6'4" @ 4.49 Hackett -- 6'2" @ ?? couldn't find it Eloi -- 5'10" @ 4.34 Hagans 5'10" @ 4.53 S.Moss -- 5'10" @ 4.31 ARE -- 5'10" @ 4.49 D.Thomas - 6'2 @ 4.40 M.Kelly -- 6'4" @ 4.68* For comparison: Anthony Mix -- 6'4" @ 4.51 Terrell Owens -- 6'3" @ 4.36 Plaxico Burress -- 6'5" @ 4.6 Interestingly, Usain Bolt would run about a 4.35 according to this article: 40 Yard Dash Times for Usain Bolt and Ben Johnson | SpeedEndurance.com |

Re: Clinton Portis Loves Marko Mitchell
You guys are kidding right? MM won't make the team. He's gotten all his catches against second stringers. HA...HA. Come on say it "Touche." LOL.
Gotcha all back for all the "Mason won't make the team." and "Mason got all his yrds against second stringers."Honestly though. I like Marco Mitchell. I know I'm stretching it a bit but I actually like his smoothness. His instinct. Moss is undeniably the #1 WR. ARE should be relegated to 3rd. and to be frank I could actually see Marco being the #2. I like DT but he had a poor showing SAT night. Kelly looks to have surpassed him on the route running and sure hands. but if Marco keeps catching everything also I would almost move him to #2 and put Kelly at #3. I know I'll get blasted by the ARE fans or the fans who think ARE walks on water but as much as I like him he doesn't impress me. For the future I could see Moss, Mitchell, Kelly, and Thomas. I guess ARE would be somewhere in between there. Lastly.....what is LL? Why are people using LL to refer to Marco and why are some putting it next to his name ie; Mitchell (LL)? |

Never mind. I see someone is refering him to Lanky Livingston which no one knows. Kinda stupid I guess. I kept thinking Laron Landry.

Re: Clinton Portis Loves Marko Mitchell
We've done really well in the late rounds since 2006. Maybe better than anyone else in the league.
I do think late round drafting is mostly just 1) luck, and 2) stockpiling picks, but after getting NOTHING (except Cartwright) in there for the first six years of the Snyder era, it sure is nice to have found Monty, Golston, Doughty, Blades, Heyer, Moore, Horton, Marko Mitchell, and Edwin Williams in the late rounds.

Re: Clinton Portis Loves Marko Mitchell
I'd love for them to get MM on the field earlier this week. See what he can give us against a better secondary. I am not a kool-aid drinker but I am a little a-titter over MM. I can't get over how perfect that fade worked. Such a hard play to do and they made it look routine. I don't care who the CB was it takes a perfect throw/route/jump to even get to the point where you can maybe catch the ball. Hell the whole point of the play is that when done properly it is basically indefensible. And the fact that he is gettings raves from the DBs, not puff up stuff either, is nice.

Re: Clinton Portis Loves Marko Mitchell
Anyone think this is interesting news.
The competition for the second WR spot is no longer a two man battle. The emergence of WR Marko Mitchell adds a third receiver to compete with WR Malcolm Kelly and Devin Thomas for the starting job.:Ala cbssportline training camp archive
