Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Redskins vs. Rams)

There are two major issues to consider:
We primarily rush to the left side of the line. Our right side can't run block. we can't have a one dimensional running game and be successful.

It's seems that Zorn does not trust Campbell in the redzone or with deep passes, or maybe the protection...

BTW,I will be the one to say it, I don't think JC had a solid game(Not bad either...). He's basicly become Mark Brunell. Atleast Brunell could hit a deep ball every now and then.

Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Redskins vs. Rams)

It's a funny game...

If JC throws a good ball to Kelly 1st play, Sellers catches his friggin TD pass, D Thomas catches his, we all feel 10000% different right now.

with that said... the stretch play w/ 2:12 on clock out of bounds = terrible... going for it on the 2 with a 2 point lead = terrible, needing the special teams coach to yell at your head coach to wait to call a timeout = terrible...

So yes, Zorn = terrible OVERALL today (and does truly seem over his head as HC)... but one throw & 2 catches makes for us all not needing Prilosec this afternoon

Let's at least give Zorn props for making the correct go-for-it call twice in the 4th quarter.

A stretch play when you need a half-yard? Probably not what I would have done, but it's the Skins comfort zone play. I think a QB sneak accomplishes the goal just fine, but it's possible that Zorn really wanted to get in the end zone there, even though the game situation says get a first down and kneel on the ball.

You are spot on.
Unfortunately it seems like we never make those plays and I don't think it's a coincidence.

I think I concur. I think we have FAR better talent than our play indicates. While we have definate weak spots, there are FAR less talented teams playing FAR better ball. The guys and staff are going to have to make it.......gel!
We'll see against the Mighty Lions?

As long as Barry Sanders isn't suiting up, I like our chances.

I couldn't agree more. We kept running the ball in order to wear them down. Use that advantage. You have to attack in that situation. The red zone calls were bad at the end, but the going for it part was the right thing to do.

I completely agree. I was rooting for a qb sneak.

And, for all of our problems, we wake up tomorrow tied for second place, unless the Giants and Cowboys tie tonight.

Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Redskins vs. Rams)

I have three things I'm deeply concerned about...

1) Playcalling.
2) Opponnent's third down conversion rate.
3) We really haven't gotten a great pass rush. AH is GREAT against the run in the middle, but neither Carter nor Orakpo are getting a lot.

I'm not surprised about Carter cause he's really not a good NFL pass rusher. But we were getting some pressure in there. I though Griff played his best game in years. He looked like the Griff of 04.

Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Redskins vs. Rams)

The FedEx Field Parking Lot - It has NEVER taken me as long to get out of the lot as it did today. Hell, it took me almost 45 minutes to get out of my PARKING SPACE because they had our whole lot blocked off so no one could move.

Did anyone else have a problem? I had a green pass, came in on Arena Dr but they made me drive around to the far side of the Stadium so I eventually had to get back to 495 on Eastern. It was terrible.
At least tailgating was pretty much the same as ever.

Well if you're always beating yourself and you're not prepared then what does that make you? I don't think we're bad, we're just average. I think we're well coached on defense. I think we're poorly coached on offense.

No matter what, I think we still play to the level of our opponent.

That call did it for me. I can't take this clown anymore. He had 3 TE's on the field and lined up in a run formation on 3rd and goal from the 10. I don't have a problem with the call, it's calling it on 3rd down when everyone knows you're not going to run.
