It just happens to have happened to us.

So now what? I think Dan Snyder has to now acknowledge that it's not working. This is not just a loss, this is an organizational failure. This is a failure of management, coaching and players. This is an organizational opportunity to reset. If Snyder reacts by firing Zorn tomorrow, that would be a typical, old Snyder knee jerk reaction. I hope he gets the realization that it's not working and takes a few measured steps to correcting the course of the franchise.

What I'd like to see Snyder do tomorrow is start the search immediately for a President of Football Operations. Instead of operating from the sideline up, we need drastic change from the front office down. There are some people available (Casserly, Holmgren, Floyd Reese, Bruce Allen) that Snyder could bring in now and allow them to take the season to evaluate the roster, the front office staff and the coaching staff. He doesn't need to make a move on Zorn or Cerrato. Someone needs to come in and be our Parcells or Joe Banner. We need an experienced front office person to come in and set the direction for the football team. Let them make the decisions on the coach and GM.

Personally, I want Shanahan to be our coach for the next decade because I believe he's a brilliant and progressive offensive mind and one of our major problems for decades is lack of an offensive identity. But, I don't think he'll be any more successful than Turner, Schotty, Spurrier, Gibbs or Zorn under our current structure. Unless we have a strong front office structure and an organizational plan, we'll be wasting Shanahan's talent and more years of our players careers.

I know I'm not breaking any new ground with this post, but this is a crucial point for the future of the Washington Redskins. We can do business as usual or make a dramatic change in the way things are done in order to save this once proud franchise.
100% agree. BTW this would have been a perfect response in my "Now What?" thread.

Good post. I hope Snyder was on the phone with Holmgren earlier tonight. I'm not on the Shanahan thing, but hopefully this shakes Danny up into getting the true PoFO / GM we need.

I wondering when the players will call for a players on meeting to fix this mess. Good players don't balme the coaches they blame themselves. Players play and coaches coach. Zorn doesn't block, catch, pass, tackle, kick, or punt. Zorn is the HC so he gets most of the blame but our players have to play with more heart and emotion.

Changing just the coach/s wont work because they will still have to coach these no-heart no energy bums. There are a whole lot of players on this team that need to go because they are too comfortable in their position on this team. Zorn will never be confused with Lombardi but look at what he's trying to coach/motivate.

Does it not make sense to bring in the new guy now? Gives him time to evaualte current plans and plan for the draft. I mean basically this season is going no where with Zorn at the helm.

Why wait until the end of the season then the new guy is scrambling to figure everything out with the draft loomig.

The thing that makes the most sense is to hire Holmgren as our Bill Parcells. It's essentially his WCO so he knows the players to look for, has all that experience. He could help turn around the offense and make smart decisions and trades, not dumbass ones like the JT trade. And when Blache steps down we go for one of Rex Ryan's assistants- dude and his staff have always had awesome defenses

Best idea I've heard yet. Maybe he can fix Zorn.

I'm glad you didn't act like the rest of the idiots blaming Campbell...who is having a great year and proving to be the our leader at QB. He's the least of the problems with this team.

Let's pray for a win over TB next week. They didn't score a point this week.

The Rams were blanked the week before we played them, too. I'll take another 9-7 win, though.

So in your scenario we're keeping Zorn as head coach?

And is Holmgren's track record as a GM really that great?
