Honestly i think theyre both comparable players at this point... although Campbell has more experience.

There are teams that will give us draft picks for JC, but not really good picks and that's why I argue that we keep him!
Buffalo would probably be in the market but I don't wish that on anyone, even though I'd grade JC a C- on his football skillz, the dude get an A+ for character, and I 'd like to see him go somewhere more stable.

There are a few more teams I can think of, Carolina/KC(if they can unload Cassel)/Seattle?/Browns/Cardinals(if KW retires)/Rams(if Bulger retires)/Tampa/Da Raiders... wow this list keeps getting longer the more I think of teams with QB issues. I couldn't imagine trading for picks unless we got at least a 2. Otherwise keep him for a year and draft a QB in the 4th.

Okung for LT in 2010!

If Shanahan saw something in Colt and/or Campbell that he could work with, that would be phenomenal. I really really really don't want us to have to use our #4 pick on a QB.

I really think that if Shanahan wanted JC out, he would have been very non-committal about him with the press (and no one would have given him flak about it). I'm sure Shanahan had plenty of time to see what was going on with this team and Jason Campbell. I would rather us either take a later round QB or take a QB in the 2011 draft (if we have football in 2011).

I agree with that, although I wouldnt read too much into Shanahans comments on JC. Shanahan would be saying the exact same things as he is if he didn't like Campbell at all and simply wanted to increase his trade value.

I think Shanny has been very non-commital on JC, he definetly hasn't gotten a resounding JC will be our starter out of him and Shanny is smart enough to not beat the kid down like Vinny. I agree with BigHair, if he hated him he would say the same things he has.

Re: Jason campbells trade value

As much as I like JC, right now there is no trade value for him. As sad as it is, if he doesn't come in and really shine for Washington next year, he is going to be a backup for the rest of his career.

do you know anything about football? or perhaps a better question would be do you know the meaning of the word "no?" saying there is no trade value for JC means that there's not a single team, of the 31 other teams in the league that would give up ANYTHING for JC... not a backup player, not a draft pick in the 2010 draft, not a conditional pick in 2050.

Every professional who i have read or listened to agree that Campbell is probably a mediocre starting QB in this league. That means that the consens is that 1) He can start in this league. 2) He would represent an upgrade to atleast 5-10 teams in the league. Even his biggest detractors think he's a quality backup at worst. Even backup QBs can be traded.

There IS trade value in Campbell. It just a question of what that value is.
