Re: why no extension?
interesting, so for now maybe we shouldnt expect to hear anything for another month or two about an extension. BTW, did the actor who played mr belvedere just die or are you just reminiscing about one of the greatest television programs of all time?

Re: why no extension?
If Vinny had made the McNabb trade, everyone would have said, "Hey, that Cerrato is really a genius!" Plus he would have bought himself another5 years here. But Vinny would have given up next year's #1 pick as well, ala Joe Gibbs.

Re: why no extension?
That was actually a smart move by Philly. This way he doesn't spend his first season as a starter in a contract year, and 2 yrs, $12.25M is a pittance compared to the salaries of the other three starters in the NFC East. And if he doesn't work out, they don't owe him anything past 2011. Another smart, shrewd move by Andy Reid IMO. Only a 1 year extension for an unproven QB.

Re: why no extension?
I don't see any reason to worry about a McNabb extension. It will get done. The last thing McNabb wants to do is play out this year without an extension and risk getting hurt which will cost him the last big payday of his career. And with the threat of a labor dispute after this season...he will sign a contract before he takes a live snap.

Re: why no extension?
time to start worrying. since Favre "retired" again, the skins need to get this done. don't want McNabb leaving for Minn.

Re: why no extension?
If he doesnt get resigned, franchise tag needs to go on for next season. As far as I'm concerned, we have McNabb on a two year deal, and will franchise him if we need to do so. I understand that will be a hefty price tag, but I think thats a no brainer. If Minnestoa wants to take him at that point, they can give us the two first rounders in return (I think thats the compensation).

Don't think that he'll do that but like the guy who covered it said, he may have wished it happened that way.

We could end up finishing the year better than the Vikings, something I would not have said last week with the assumption Favre would be back. Now Sidney Rice may need hip surgery. McNabb is buying into the Redskins as a system and winner. You can tell he's excited about being here. He'll sign. The labor issues are what's preventing the contract...and it's happening to many players other than McNabb. Bruce Allen doesn't agree with the ESPN fairy tales: D.C. Sports Bog - Bruce Allen says McNabb will be a Redskin "for years"

Re: why no extension?
What's Sal is saying is true that McNabb's preferred choice was Minnesota, and it's a legit opinion that he has (has had for a while) that McNabb will sign with Minnesota as a free-agent next year. I happen to disagree, but it makes sense what he is saying.
However, as I said in another thread, all that has really nothing to do with Favre "retiring" today because it's not like McNabb is going to up and leave the Redskins now and it's not like anyone really thought Favre was playing more than this upcoming year. Statement is being blown out of proportion
