That's awesome! Congrats to you and your dad. Great way to spend a Saturday morning!

I knew whatever you were going to post in here had nothing to do with jogging/running, unless your original thought was something along the lines of "I had to run to the bathroom because I had diarhhea this morning."

Yeah, I use it and like it when my iPod doesn't crap out, but it's on it's last leg. I ran a half marathon last year that didn't have clocks set up at the mile markers so I was using that to pace myself but it just stopped tracking my distance after about 10 miles. At least my music kept playing.

Got a smartphone? You can just use it on that.

Yeah, for that I think you need the shoe and the iPod sensor.
I like that you can set it for distance, time, or open-ended, etc. It syncs with your music, so when you've reached a certain point the music fades out and a voice comes on telling you "4 miles" or whatever. I can hit a button and it will audibly say my distance, time, and pace so I can keep my eyes on the road.

Re: The runners thread

Runkeeper makes a good app. I've been using it for a few months. I like having the current pace announcements set to every 1/2 mile.

Mapmyrun is solid. I used to use that, but then I got the Nike GPS app, which is fantastic. For Xmas my Dad gave me the Garmin FR60 running watch which comes with a pedometer and heart meter, and you can wirelessly link it to your computer so it automatically uploads all your run statistics. You can then do side by side comparisons with your various workouts and track your progress. Pretty awesome little gadget.

I've got less than a month until the Cherry Blossom 10 miler!!

Nice. Longer distance races are so much nicer. It just seems a lot more relaxed.

Re: The runners thread

I'm running my first Warrior Dash on Saturday and couldn't be more excited!!! I'm not worried about the running part since it's only 3miles, but I'm starting to get a little worried that I didn't do enough training (aka none) for the obstacles. Anyone else ever done one of these before?

If it goes well I'm probably going to sign up for Tough Mudder in the fall. Around 12miles, and 25 obstacles involving ice, electricity, and monkey bars. I figure that will be a good way to end my 20's.

In the mean time, I've decided that I'm starting to get fat again, so I'm also training for the Baltimore 10-miler next month. On Sunday morning I was able to get through 5 good miles in about the same pace that I was running last spring, so I think I'll be good to go.
