Re: Washington Capitals 2011-2012 Ongoing Thread
It has to start somewhere It has to start sometime. What better place than here, what better time than now?
It's that time again. The rare event in which we get to watch hometown playoffs. It's hockey and playoff seeding means very little, so I like our odds. We owned Boston in Boston as well. I like our odds this series, lets see if Dale Hunter's strategy can translate.

Yeah we'll see. Most of my friends think we're walking into a buzzsaw, but anything can happen. I will say though that the Caps' regular season success against the Bruins doesn't mean much now though.

Biggest problem here is Holtby in goal. Apparently he has some swagger- so lets see if that can translate into success. I'm not arrogant going into this series, but I am cautiously optimistic.

I think a lot depends on the rust on Backstrom skates as to how this series will be determined. I say BOS in six and if BOS loses the series I will be behind WAS moving forward.

Huge win today! I just hope the offense can start peppering Thomas a little more, the Caps have got to find a way to take these next two home games.

Bruins are a tough play when they are on the road as well. I don't think it gets any easier from here, but I am glad to see them play the way they've played the past two games. It's amazing to watch them play a defensive battle with a team like the Bruins.

Re: Washington Capitals 2011-2012 Ongoing Thread
Holtby is the truth.
With that said I now kind of understand why McPhee wanted a guy like Hunter. The playoffs are just an entirely different animal. Virtually no room to run around and tight checking, shot blocking, and defense are essential. At the end of the season I was kind of hoping Hunter was simply let go after the playoffs. Now I'm wondering if he shouldn't stick around. Either way in regards to playoff hockey he definitely has the team playing the right way. On a side note I personally love how they refuse to be intimidated by the Bruins.

I love the Caps, but watching the Flyers and Pens beat the shit out of each other has been entertaining as hell to watch. 133 PIMs handed out in today's game, absolutely crazy to watch. Felt like every shift there was cheap shots handed out by both sides.

Actually better then that was when Schenn was doing his best Marchand-Sedin incident on Crosby in part because they were done handling Crosby with kid gloves. Fast forward to 2:23 of the first video.

Huge win by the Caps tonight, we would've been in a serious hole if we went down 3-1. I hope they keep playing like this for the rest of the series, we're down to a best-of-3 now.

Holy crap! This series is gonna make me go gray! What a huge win, but they have got to close it out tomorrow. The VC is gonna be nuts!
I'm loving the Troy Brouwer signing right now; he definitely brings the playoff grit the Caps have lacked the last few years.

Re: Washington Capitals 2011-2012 Ongoing Thread
That was a huge goal he scored in the last couple minutes there. Hard not to like that signing right about now though. I really hope we'll be prepared for the Bruins' intensity tomorrow, I would much rather win the series at home than have to go into Boston for a series deciding game.

Good to see the Caps battle back. Umm..is there a goalie playing better than Holtby right now? I don' think so. Great match.
