The vitriol towards Beck is effing ridiculous. What the hell is everyone's problem with the guy? That he has the balls and the belief that he can be a starting quarterback?

"HAR HAR HAR, WHAT A LOSER! He wants to come to our team and is motivated to put in the time and effort that Donovan McNabb and Jason Campbell wouldn't to be a starting quarterback! What a maroon! What a jerk! Can't wait until we bench this guy and bring in another quarterback yet another football team didn't want! Because giving up draft picks and a signing a guy monster contract to a guy worked so well the first friggin time!"

What ungrateful pricks this fanbase must be, to crap on a dude who's only crime against them has been he has the audacity to believe he can be a starting quarterback. To ignore every circumstance of his time in the NFL and judge him based on four games his rookie year.

Let him earn the friggin' job, or completely suck balls, before we sit around talking about what a failure he is. It's starting to disgusting how so called fans of this team and the media at large are pretty much picking on the dude and ragging on him ever chance they get.

He's easily more motivated to be the best quarterback he can be than ANY of the Redskins starters since friggin' Mark Rypien.
I agree.

Here's to hoping he proves a lot of people wrong.

At the very least he deserves a chance. For a franchise that has been playing the QB shuffle for the last 20 years, we shouldn't be discounting anyone.

Beck/Grossman is either going to be the stupidest decision Shanahan ever made or the most genius decision of his career. Or somewhere in between

Good post!!!

Someone needs to answer a question: What is the difference between Kevin Kolb and John Beck? Neither guy has proven anything in the NFL, but for some reason Kolb is the next Dan Marino, and Beck is the next Heath Shuler.. Give Beck a chance!! The more I read posts from knuckle headed Redskin fans, the more I wonder if Redskin fans are really knowledgeable fans...

Also, why do so many Redskin fans believe DM was wronged by MS and KS. The guy sucked! Why would any coach trade a guy within the division if they thought the guy could really play?

Nonsense is the only thing I hear from anyone untill we actually see him play in a skins uniform this year.... why bother wasting ur breath speculating? Wait til after the preseason AT LEAST ... IMO if brought back Grossman and Beck will have a good competition and hopefully the best man wins and certain egos are checked at the door.

True, but Kolb was kept on his team instead of one of the Eagles all time great qbs. Beck was a 2nd rounder who got cut by the team that drafted him 2 years later, then got cut as the third string qb by the ravens, then was our 3rd string qb last year. And to add insult to injury, Beck will be 30, which gives less longevity possibility. Neither has proven anything, but how they have been treated by their respective teams is a pretty large indicator of how much they are valued in the nfl and a reasonably accurate predictor of how they will do in the future. Of course, neither has proven anything yet so there are no absolutes, but if you can't see why Redskins fans are concerned, then I think that's on you.

Re: How far can Beck take us?

The difference also between kolb n Beck is on field performance ... even in the little time they had...

And you know from all of your NFL experience!! Give me a break dude! Kolb has played in 2 more games than Beck. You like Kolb because the NFL network, and other so called experts have jumped on the Kolb bandwagon. Aren't you tired of the big name free agents? Do you know better than MS? Maybe DS should have hired you to lead the Redskins with all of your experience. Why am i wasting my time????

Dude your talking about apples and oranges... Beck started 4 games for a horrible Miami team that threw in the towel on the season.

Kolb played behind a solid Eagles team.

Re: How far can Beck take us?

The cold fact is that no one, not even Beck, knows who he is as an NFL starter.

He could be the next come-from-nowhere Kurt Warner. Or he could be the next Patrick Ramsey.

What we do know is that if he cannot beat out Grossman for the starting job, we are in trouble offensively.

Seriously, I bet if it had been Kolb in Miami and Beck in Philly and Beck had gotten the chance to show what he could do in relief appearances, right about now Kolb would be in Beck's shoes and Beck would be in AZ signing a contract for 63 million. Miami had an atrocious team that year. Philly surrounded Kolb with a mixture of young talent and proven vets. Apples and oranges indeed.

@Skinster: Beck wasn't cut, we traded for him. Granted it was Doug Dutch, but if this move works out and Beck starts looking like a decent quarterback everybody will look back at this as a win for the Skins. Especially if we can turn around and flip Beck for picks or a player down the road.
