Re: Coaching Changes

Yea, the slim chance of us trading to number 1 is out of the question now. New regime in Indy will want to have a franchise QB for the next 15. Polian might have been willing to trade to get a few more draft picks to take a couple more Super bowl runs with Manning.

Re: Coaching Changes

This is total speculation on my part, but last night on NBC Tony Dungy, who is close with Bill Polian, was saying that he wouldn't just assume that the Colts will take Luck at #1. He said given today's NFL, he'd have to take a hard look at RGIII with the top pick.

Maybe Irsay knew that there was a chance that the Polian's would pass on Luck? Or maybe Manning's tension with them came to a head? Who knows.

It probably increases the likelihood that Peyton Manning stays in Indy. Not to say that they won't draft Andrew Luck, I think they will.

me too, I figured we'd find a way to get him before gibbs and before zorn were hired. he seems like such an obvious choice. not that i see it happening.

Re: Coaching Changes

Interesting insight by Adam Schefter re the Polians... He likened the situation to back in '92 when Pat Bowlen fired Dan Reeves after so many years. Bowlen was quoted back then as saying "I wanted my team back." He said Irsay and Polian have snapped at each other more than once this year, and Polian is that same kind of strong presence like Reeves... Irsay wanted his team back.

It must be tough. If you are Polian, you are so invested in things that it must feel like "your" team. But it is no surprise if the actual owner is unhappy with that.

He wants to go somewhere with an established QB. To me he's a perfect fit in San Diego.

Ahhhh good point. I think Fisher would put SD back atop the AFC West.

But a really, really nice opportunity for Fisher. He was "stuck" in AFC South facing the damn Colts all those years. In SD he will have a great QB and coach the defense up overnight.

Spanos may give Norv yet another chance.
