I'm going to get flack for this but AP's recovery seems to good to be true. Going from a torn ACL to being withink striking distance of the all time single season rushing record? Theres a very cynical and cruel part of me that seriously wonders if he's taking HGH. I mean they don't test for it right now hence recent congressional hearings urging the league and the players union to start testing for it.

Please keep in mind though this is baseless speculation on my part in which case I partly blame Lance Armstrong.

So what if he is? Does it make what he's doing less remarkable?

Seattle reminds me of us. They are just rolling, playing well with a rookie at the helm. Wish we had they're defense.

Depends on how we frame it. Is it a medical treatment or a peformance enhancer?

On one hand ACL tears are devastating and if HGH is an effective and safe treatment then why shouldn't it be a standard treatment for athletes? On the other hand if its a performance enhancer on par with the type of boost that steroids give to players then it's detestable.

Keep in mind the best soccer player in the world Lionel Messi took HGH as a kid to treat a growth disorder and is now a relatively normal height. No one laments him for using it, in the end it goes back to how you look at it. Assuming that AP used HGH to recover do we look at it as a legitimate medical treatment or a dirty performance enhancer? Personally I don't know enough about it to make a decision either way.

Again, disclaimer, this is all hypothetical.

Could say the same thing about Peyton Manning or any player that makes a comeback that seems unreasonable to believe. Unless there are any rumors out there we can assume that any player is using PED's. I'll give them all the benefit of the doubt until some one comes out with facts proving otherwise.

Yes its possible but to me I'm seeing more red flags on AP coming back from an ACL terror to dominate at the games most physically demanding position. I mean we've seen a noticeable decrease in Manning's arm strength while AP is better then ever.

In the end it gives us three possibilities. Either ACL repairs have come a long way to the point where they now have the same effect as Tommy John surgery, AP Is a physical speciman that has a rare ability to recover from injuries faster then 99.9% of the human race, or he was using PED's. Most people up to this point have assumed the second option.

Either way the NFL's testing policy is a mess right now. On top of no testing for HGH players who use drugs like adderall are subject to the same punishment as players who use steroid.

If Adderall is a performance enhancer then I should be playing in the NFL right now as I took it from age 5 to 21.

I've had similar thoughts as the world of sports in general has made us all cynical of various feats due to performance enhancers being so prevelant even among those whom we wouldn't have even remotely be associated with them.
