If he's telling the team he's coming back I'd assume they will start working on a restructure, assuming the team wants him back of course.

I'm assuming he wouldnt have had the surgeries and publically say he's coming back if he didnt know we wanted him back. I highly doubt he'd go through the trouble to play one more year somewhere else.

That's what I thought too, that the framework is there, and both sides basically ok'd it, so he had his surgery. His comments, if I read them right, were pretty clear that for him playing again meant as a Redskin.

Still thinking the new agent to team period will let a lot of guys get a good feel, and actually give the home team a bit of an advantage if a player(not Fletch) has an unrealistic view of his market value.

More than anything, Fletcher is motivated by the aspirations to get his second Super Bowl ring. I think the Redskins can do it.

I may be drinking to much kool aid but I think it's quite possible.

I think the Redskins are possible 3-4 years away. There odds are stacked against Fletcher if that is his primary motivation.

Sad but true.

Personal opinion. Who in their right mind assumes that we are capable of competing this year? I'd love to be proven wrong, but I just don't see it in the cards. We have to remember that one year does not make a trend.

Hell, If this cap penalty holds (which for all intents and purposes, it will), I don't even think the front office thinks we are contenders this year. My feeling is that the front office is willing to take a step back this year to take a gigantic leap forward in the years to come.

We'll become a prominent and formidable team that consistently is in the Super Bowl discussion, but it won't be this year.

3-4 years would ensure that we go through another regime change, so I hope your personal opinion is off base. As for who in their right mind thinks we can compete? I would think most analysts will have us up there in the playoffs, and I think if Griffin comes back with any reasonable ability not to go "superman", than we will have every reason to be in the NFC Championship.

Fact is, this FO is making a concerted effort to keep the parts that are working right, and finding players in the draft and FA that supplement our base. Of course anything can happen, but with RJackson back, our OLB corp is solid, our DL is good, our OL looks consistent, and we have reasonably good skill position players on offense.

3-4 yrs is overly pessimistic.

We went 10-6 with a rookie QB and some key injuries, and a shaky D.

How do we go from that to being 3-4 years away?

I think he meant 3-4 years away from our 3rd or 4th superbowl appearance in a row.

But maybe I misinterpreted him.

How many other teams could have said the same thing, though? It takes a considerable amount of luck to win a super bowl. Don't get me wrong, I think well have a winning record consistently for those years, I just think it'll take us 3-4 years to get over the top...

Again, just my personal opinion.

I'm not even talking SB, I'll wait to see how the rest of the offseason goes and of course RG3's recovery.

But I do think we can be back in the playoffs and be just as competitive as last year.

I was never arguing whether we'd be competitive, my point was if fletcher is coming back because he thinks we're winning a superbowl next year, he should prepare for disappointment...
