I like safeties that can hit more than safeties that can cover. The average corner in the NFL is between 175-205 pounds. Safeties are a little bulkier. I wouldn't want no corner playing safety unless he's aging and packs on a little more muscle and weight.

Iv'e said this before and I'll say it again....I really think not having a NFL starting competent safety made our corners look worse than they were. I'm not saying we have lockdown pro bowl corners but I really think with an actual starting NFL safety it helps our corners out a lot and improves our defense immensely improves our defense.

Oh no your right, but even with a rookie safety coming in, you still need to get better CBs. I think if you had Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor back there, you'd still see that Wilson and Hall aren't that great.

If we sign/draft two safeties does that mean Ratard Jackson and B Merriwether are donzo? I figured one of those two guys would pan out and be starting week one...

I think the Redskins are going to draft either Phillip Thomas or D.J. Swearinger. That said, it would be a good idea to keep Meriweather and Jackson for depth with possibly Meriweather starting at SS. We can't be mad at Jackson anymore. He's served his suspension and hopefully he can contribute once he's officially reinstated by Goddell.

TJax cannot even be in the building until the very end of August, making him unlikely as a week one starter.

What's that Mark Twain saying? "If you don't like the weather in New England, wait five minutes."

Same concept for DJ and Thomas.

I happen to think it'll be between Wilcox (my pick) or Duke in round 4.

SS what are you hearing on the buzz that we may go WR in the 2nd round? Draft week smokescreen or legit buzz. While S & CB are bigger needs, I don't see anyone on our WR group outside of Garcon who's not replaceable in 2014 with a draft pick. Even if it's not in the 2nd, I'd like to see us come away from rounds 2-5 with at least one WR and one speed RB.

100% legit. Personally I think we're going to trade our 2nd round pick and have two 3rds. One will be a WR/possibly RB and the other will be a CB. I don't think we're taking a safety before round 4. And I think one our 5th round picks will be another offensive playmaker.

So you're thinking offensive playmaker in Round 2 (perhaps Justin Hunter), either DJ Swearinger or Phillip Thomas in Round 3, and either JJ Wilcox or Duke Williams in Round 4. Is that right?
