Could you imagine the uproar if he got injured again in a preseason game?

Given that his expected recovery time was 7-9 months, I just don't see any benefit to playing him in a meaningless game. What does he really have to gain by playing a series or two?

All we should be worried about is him being ready for the Eagles. That's it.

Right...a series or two is entirely useless. Unless they can get him enough reps to matter then there is no point. The speed of the game isn't going to be a problem for him. He's faster than everyone anyways. Plus we'll for sure not be running our eal offense so there isn't a good argument to be made to play him.

All I know is I am so ready for a good QB controversy. It's not the Skins without one.

Light'em up Captain Kirk!!!

On a stroll down memory lane, isn't this what the Heath Shuler/Gus Frerotte draft was SUPPOSED to be, a sure fire #1 talent, and a 2nd string worthy of being first. It's like the Skins finally came out of the qb dive that was started in that draft many many year ago.

I absolutely believe the bolded part is true. Everything about Griffin's play seems like he is seeing the field in slow motion. That's one reason I don't believe the talk about read progressions. Maybe it's true, and obviously every qb needs to work on that part of the game all the time, but my gut feeling is that Griffin scans the field far better than even most of his supporters give him credit for.

Excellent point.

Re: RGIII has been cleared for practice

If I had my wish, I would certainly play Robert in enough PreSeason to tune up in the "Game Speed" timing of the receivers and opposing defense (certainly good gains to be had in.....Rust removal)
........BUT
I would risk that and sit him as I would probably keep him out and not have a third stringer hustling for a full time gig to crush his blind side.....

Re: RGIII has been cleared for practice

As fans we want to see Griffin in August, because we are desparate for all things Football right now, but Shannahan will be doing right by RG3 if he doesn't take the field until September. Maybe, just Maybe one series in the 3rd preseason game at the beginning with the starting OL, but that would be it. Even that would be scary. I guess I'm more concerned with him having to wear a knee brace this year. He just doesnt look the same with those bulky things on.

Did we not spend the entire offseason listening to these talking heads blast the team for playing RG3 when he was hurt, not caring about the player, etc.? Now the team is taking it's time with their star player and trying to take the safer route and it's F them for trying to be smart.
Just saw an interview with RGIII this morning and he want to be on the field but is following the advise of coaches and DR's. Duke would be the first to blame the coaches if RG gets hurt in training camp.

Re: RGIII has been cleared for practice

As I was watching the NFl Network yesterday I was shocked they would have Jamie Dukes and Micheal Irvin on at the same time. They both really suck. They are overly opinionated morons.
Dukes does not like the Redskins and bad mouths them any chance he can. Dukes puts words in RGIII mouth then smiles a shit eating grin. I never wanted to punch someone more than at that moment. Dukes is a butt weasel.

Dukes always seems to put an odd spin on things. I don't know if he's really that out there or if he just likes to play devil's advocate.
