U know Caldwell was solid in Indy but that 2-14 year scares me. As for the rest of those guys I guess I'd go with bevelle

Re: The Redskins Head Coach job is the best opening available

so, 6 plays a game? Sorry, not gonna spin that into a NFL coordinator. Also, the cowboys special teams were nothing special, and that is one area of the game where scheme and coaching has a TON to do with the product on the field. This guy is just a Bruce Allen Lackey, seems he might be giving tryouts to his friends.

Im just saying, its not often you go from special teams coach to head coach of the third most expensive NFL franchise.

I think this would be a mistake. Worse than Shanny mistake, but that is just my opinion.

I doubt they hire him and I agree I hope not.

John Harbaugh, Bill Cowher, Bill Belichick, Ken Whisenhunt, Dick Vermeil, Marv Levy - all were ST at one point in there career.

Yeah, a former special teams coordinator won the Super Bowl just last year as a HC. There is no intrinsic reason why a ST coach can't be HC.

That said, IMO we won't hire him.

Probably not going after Bisaccia, just a good opportunity to talk to our opposition about their perspective on our ST struggles this year. Why the heck not?

Re: The Redskins Head Coach job is the best opening available

what is the number of special teams coaches that jump STRAIGHT to a head coaching gig? This is my point, not that if you coach special teams, you will never be any good, or HC material. Did any of you ever take the time to even READ my post?

Re: The Redskins Head Coach job is the best opening available

anyway, i guess I can explain myself like this

Marijuana (small time drug) = Special Teams coach

Black Tar Heroin (BIG TIME) = NFL Head coach.

Now how many people the day after they light up a joint jump STRAIGHT into Black Tar Heroin infusions? Usually, its a gradual process, hence the name gateway drug. ST coach is usually a forebearer to another positions coach, coordinator, maybe then a college coach, then the Black Tar Heroin. Check all the above names you listed, and see how many went from ST with ZERO coordinating (offensive or defensive) or HC experience (lower level) to an NFL top job. I'd put money on none of them, but I may be wrong.

I agree, I think Black Tar Heroin will make a great head coach. I can just see him on the sideline, tweaking out at the refs, offering x-rated suggestions to the refs in exchange for more timeouts, etc. This makes perfect sense.

Re: The Redskins Head Coach job is the best opening available

I think Bisaccia is more than a qualified to be a head coach, and many other (much more qualified than me) people also believe he is. To dismiss as "just a special teams coach" is pretty short-sighted.

That said, I can see how there would be concerns about him having his first HC gig with the Redskins. The atmosphere may not be conducive to his debut

Re: The Redskins Head Coach job is the best opening available

None of us are really going to know until the coach gets in here and rolls up his sleeves and puts the work in. Yeah as fans we can make stupid ass comments, and I see a lot of them here... but do any us really know if this teams hack from Dallas is HC material? Nope. I'm sure the John Harbaugh hire in Baltimore was questioned but he's been more than solid.
