It wasn't as though any of them were bad calls that went our way, to my recollection.

Having said that, our inability to control the ball and run gave Seattle WAY too many chances -- such that they could squander several of them and still put up 27 points on us. And that isn't good.
Just embarrassing that we let them score on a big play, Seattle gets penalized for something that really had no effect, and then we let them go right down and score again.

But this game was against one of the best teams in the league. Any positives we can get out of this game are positives indeed. Probably the most obvious one is that Cousins protected the football against a great defense.

from Tandler article...thats a problem in my opinion.

Id like to see reporters ask Gruden about it today in the presser, but the Vets on the team should be handling that as well.
Some of the vets were part of the clowning going on.

This should be Jay Gruden.

Re: Skins vs Seasquawks Positive and Negatives

It's a lost season - there's no doubt about it. I'm not sure in hindsight how many of us were justified thinking that maybe things were going to be different this year. We were certainly right to have hope - afterall a new coach and some new players always initially brings some hope.

But we still had the same old typical redskins problems to begin the year - Questions about the offensive line, special teams, and defense. No solid identity at QB.

I also wonder how patient Dan Snyder will be with Jay Gruden - things don't look to good right now and I don't think it's crazy to imagine 1-15, or 3-13 team. Is there anybody out there that we could beat besides Jacksonville?

They say the plan is to start RG3 at week 8 - i don't think that's very smart because by then we are already playing for next year, and if by some reason we are still in the playoff hunt (most likely not possible), you might want to keep Kirk in there if by some way we are still in playoff contention....

I agree with that statement. We need to get better up front on both sides of the ball. Not having Barry Cofield and Bowens in the trenches hurts our D-Line depth this season. I don't see bringing back Bowen at his salary unless he takes a pay cut. We need to up grade at RT over Polumbus . Morgan Mosses needs to get a long look to see if he can play at some point along with the guard Long.

Re: Skins vs Seasquawks Positive and Negatives

Positives
1. We didn't quit.
2. We didn't get blown out.
3. The defense played well at times.
4. Cousins played better and didn't throw a int this game.

Negatives
1. The defense didn't adjust quick enough to stop Wilson on the read option.
2. The defense did not tackle well and allowed to many yards after contact.
3. Our pass rush did not stay in their rush lands which allowed Wilson to run wild while playing man 2 man defense.
4. Our special teams continue to play poorly this season.
5. Jordan Reed misses another game.
6. Playing at home is not a home field advantage for us.
7. We are last in the NFC East.

Skins vs Seasquawks Positive and Negatives

My blameometer is starting to focus more on BA than ever before. We have some real dumbf*#ks on this team.
Edit: just for the record it has been focused on Snyder n Haslett for a while now. Im just trying to share the blame to be fair.

YES! The cap penalty is a killer. 36 million worth of talent isn't going to appear as soon as it's lifted.

The FO has has done a good job finding bandaids (shorter term contracts) in free agency. Hatcher, Jackson, Roberts. (I like Roberts for the long run, he is good and won't break the bank)

The penalty killed our depth. Early injuries this season have exposed our lack of depth.

I believe Gruden and BA will begin to aquire talent similar to what he had in Cincinatti. It isn't going to happen overnight.

Moses whiffed his first play in. Polumbus usually gets his hands on them before the sack.

Compton came in right after the whiff.

Long looks aren't possible when ends are getting free runs to our qb.

Positives: Most of the tough part of initial schedule is over. Of the next 5 games, we have Tennessee, Minnesota and Tampa Bay (combined record of 4-11). Really optimistically, if we do what we should & win all of those, and get really lucky & win against either Dallas or Arizona (??) -- we could be 5-5 in Week 12.

Negatives: After that point, we'd have 6 really tough games down the stretch (SF,Colts,STL,NYG,PHI,DAL)

Yeah, we've been down this road just like a Thursday night game against the Vikings was supposed to be a winable game yet they got dominated, and the Vikes second string TE looked like a Hall of Famer. Not buying it, this is the same old Skins and another 10+ lose season.

The Moses whiff was hard to watch.
The man never put his hands on a defensive player the whole play.

Re: Skins vs Seasquawks Positive and Negatives

The good:
  • No INTs
  • Showed some deep play potential
  • 2nd half adjustments looked good (even if the execution didn't)
  • Low # of penalties
  • Low # of sacks

The bad:
  • 3rd down eff. on offense -especially those 3rd and shorts
  • total lack of a running game
  • the 1st half gameplay on D- Did they watch any tape? FYI:Wilson can run
  • Not going for it 4th and short
  • the tackling or lack there of
  • the lack of speed on D
  • Special teams as usual- esp that fake kick Sea ran and the on-side kick

I honestly can't blame coaches on this one. There is just a lack of talent on the field. Partly it is them still recovering from the cap penalty, but a big part is the lack of 1 round picks because of the RG3 trade.

The FO had their work cut out this offseason.
