Besides to the big, "fuck you," that he gave to the team, you can't afford to waste those reps on a liability. What's to stop him from doing it again later this year, and then you don't have anyone who has practiced this defense.

I would have made the same decision, and said you have a spot here, but you have earn it back. In life you are completely in your right to make these kind of decisions to drop obligations if you need to, but these decisions have consequences regardless of intention. Tough lesson to learn, but well worth learning.
this. well said

Glad they shut him down. Let his ass sit for a year and hopefully they can get something for him. His days here are probably over. Probably wants to play for the Rams or Chargers.

Re: Sua Cravens

I think his issues go well beyond simply wanting to play for another team.

Re: Sua Cravens

Chris Thompson said it was something "way bigger than football". That could mean a thousand things, but given the enigmatic behavior pattern, Matty I think you were possibly onto something when you mentioned the possibility of some kind of behavioral health problem.

Can't even begin to guess what it might be. But if he's hearing voices, or experiencing bi-polar symptoms, you could understand why Thompson would say it's something way bigger than football.

No point in speculating, all the Redskins can do is move on with 53 guys who are committed to winning. They need to set a culture of accountability and putting the team above all else, and that includes shelving until next year someone who can't share that mindset.

True. Plus this guy really hasn't done anything I guess folks are belly aching because of his potential. This isn't like Ryan Kerrigan up and left.

Yeah like I said earlier, I now think Nicholson is the future at safety alongside Swearinger, not Cravens. Even if Cravens gets back and committed.

Nicholson looked rangy and took smart angles against the Rams. The corners were heralded for shutting down the Rams passing attack, and they should be. But that doesn't happen if Swearinger and Nicholson weren't playing well.

Don't do it Schneed, don't get me hyped up about yet another unheralded safety trying to plug the hole that's existed since ST's death. I refuse to believe anything we have back there is more than a stopgap solution until they prove it.

Re: Sua Cravens

Torrain Gray...getting a lot out of our secondary. His value is already showing up.

This coming week we will face a challenge with the Carr-Crabtree-Cooper 3 headed monster. But I got faith.

Aside from Cooper it's not the talent of that trio that scares me, it's the time that Carr is afforded in the pocket by that monster of an offensive line. Our front 7 is going to have to bring it, and the offense is going to need to get it together and try to carry the team this week.

I have been thinking the same. Of course this is all speculation, but if mental health is the issue, the timing with his age makes a lot of sense, the "miss" by the scouts makes sense (how could they predict a mental health disorder that hadn't yet presented), and the complete disregard for responsibility and financial status would make a lot of sense too.

If mental health is the case, bi-polar and other such disorders aren't easily treated. I would have to guess he would not come back from it (to the NFL that is).

Nicholson looked pretty good last week...really like his upside. Between him and Everett, we're still in good shape.

Sua who?
