I can confirm he asked for a trade the other night yes. This did not come out of thin air. Beyond that we’ll see. — John Keim (@john_keim) February 12, 2020 Dunbar is not looking good here .. let your agent handle this bc you are fucking it up. Your flip flopping is making reporters have to defend their integrity when integrity means a lot to these beat reporters. Let Dunbar play out this year, if he wants to sit then he can sit. If he balls out and plays a full season, transition or franchise tag him or extend then. Id make Dunbar have a prove it year at this point. Hes just misses way too many games. Hes the last guy youd want to give a big contract to, I can only imagine he will miss even more games and refuse to play unless he is 100% if he gets a LTD and knows he is good money wise no matter what. ---------- I glanced at our roster the other day and was reminded that with Stroman, Moreland, Moreau and Danny Johnson we have some young corners that all have at least shown good things at one time or another. If one of those players makes it to a second contract, I would call that a success. Like w Flowers or Penn ... are we thinking they may be good bc they played slightly better than the low expectations we had for them .. or are they actually good promising pieces? Obviously w the CBs they are all young and will get their chances to sink or swim but I dont view any of them as average to above average when compared to other teams CB1-CB3. They all feel like depth guys to me. Penn/Flowers - they played average to below avg (compared to starting LT and LGs) to me but I feel like they get over hyped bc we expected them to be cut sept 1 but instead they played average and didnt get hurt.

D Johnson is a depth guy. Stroman showed some really good things at times and COULD turn out OK. Moreland was really exciting early I think he has potential. Moreau is intriguing, he was disappointing early but showed improvement last season IMO. Envoyé de mon SM-J320FN en utilisant Tapatalk

Re: Dunbar demanding trade or release
Let me dream....Quinton Dunbar and a 4th Round pick for WR Stefon Diggs OR Dunbar for OJ Howard straight up.
If you look at Minnesota they have a 2 starting CB free agents this year and Tampa's Cornerback situation is a serious mess. I would explore it.

Who would you replace Dunbar with if we trade him away?

Re: Dunbar demanding trade or release
Im looking internal first at Fabien Mourneau. When he was moved to the outside the second half of the year, he played well. I envision Mourneau outside, Jimmy Moreland slot and Free Agent as the no 1.

Re: Dunbar demanding trade or release
While we would surely need to bring in another starting caliber CB, I glanced at our roster the other day and was reminded that with Stroman, Moreland, Moreau and Danny Johnson we have some young corners that all have at least shown good things at one time or another.
I'm aware they're all on IR but none of those injuries seem career threatening to me (hamstring, foot, hand). Point being let's not act like we have absolutely nothing at CB, but we'll need more for sure. Envoyé de mon SM-J320FN en utilisant Tapatalk

Re: Dunbar demanding trade or release
Chico and French - I'm not convinced Moreau can step up as #2 CB. I had hopes for him last season but he didn't show much until ending of the season so I'm not sure if I would feel comfortable going into the season with a FA CB and Moreau as our starting CBs. What if the FA CB or Moreau gets injury in the beginning or middle of season? I'm not worried about the slot position, we have it covered with Moreland or Stroman. But I would be concerned about #1 or #2 CB if we trade Dunbar away.
I think this is a dilemma Redskins FO will need to figure out how to handle during the offseason. Strong defense will help Haskins as it will lessen the pressure for the offense to score lot of points. Dunbar definitely will make the defense strong, and I don't think we can say the same for Moreau. If we could trade Dunbar for Diggs from Vikings or Howard from Tampa Bay then this definitely will help Haskins and the offense but will it be enough to score enough points if the defense cannot stop the opponents? It might not be a big deal if we draft Chase Young although this means we assume Young will come in and dominate like Nick Bosa did. There are just too many questions in this situation. The ideal scenario at this point for me is Dunbar comes in and play (I read a report somewhere that he said that he will still play regardless of the contract status), sign a CB from FA then draft Young. If Dunbar manages to justify his desire for a new contract after the 2020 season then Redskins should do everything they can to keep Dunbar. If Dunbar refuses to sign with Redskins then Redskins should franchise tag him and then trade him away. |

My point is that if Dunbar goes (either trade or release), and we can bring a solid veteran via FA, the situation at CB is fine. And we can bring in a couple of late rounders/UDFAs for depth. I had the feeling the mood was getting "if Dunbar goes our secondary is doomed" a tad too much.

Re: Dunbar demanding trade or release
Gridiron...it’s an art & science with balancing the roster. First point, is Dunbar gonna be a distraction as he has been so far this offseason? 2. Can you go out and get an equal or better talent at a position of need at a trade? What is the value of Dunbar...probably the highest it will EVER be...low cap number and in his prime.
When it comes to replacement, u should always look internally like any business. Second, you have to analyze the market and say can’t we get equal play at a similar cap number?

Re: Dunbar demanding trade or release
either sort this dunbar shit out or trade him for a 2nd this year. - to touch on the moreu topic - i think he can be a good corner - but i think his strength lies more with zone as opposed to man - maybe in the right scheme he will flourish who knows. Excited to see what the group we have can be with real DC and defensive minded staff.
