I agree 100%, which is why I wouldn't be against Derwin James or Minkah Fitzpatrick in the first round were they available, but you make a great point that people miss, solid defenses are solid all around not necessarily full of stars, look at the Eagles, it isnt that they have stars all over the place but they have about 7 guys who can give you solid solid production, a la Kerrigan. I am with you on Fuller and Moreau, love them

Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
A disruptive NT/DT is crucial for this defense. AJ Francis, Ziggy Hood, Stacy McGee and injuried Phil Taylor was the weakest link when playing over Center.
Ryan Anderson is the guy on the defense I’m most interested in going into next year...where does he fit? IF Sua Cravens comes in dedicated to the team...big if...I like out safety group. Sign Zach Brown...which I don’t think will be hard.

Vita Vea next to Jonathan Allen would be something special.

It's looking more and more like the best option for the skins is to franchise and trade Kirk. Get something out this.

I don't know if anyone will give up a 1st for Kirk, with all the young QB's in this draft it will be hard to imagine that. MAYBE Denver but that is a Big Q too with their money situation.

If the FO can ask (or at least get a feel of) if Kirk would sign offers from other teams in that situation, then it's a good option: -either he signs a crazy offer that you don't want to match and you can finally move on and say "We should've signed you 2 years ago, but you played it right, good luck to you we're not paying that kind of money" -or he signs an offer that you're willing to match and you know you got him at market value. You only need to know that he's not gonna make it backfire by not signing any offers and just taking the 28 M. But I think he made it pretty clear he wants to get settled. So I'm guessing the FO could get that information from his agent.

Must have misunderstood, can't find anything online really detailed about what you'd have to match.

However you do have to match salary structure, bonuses and incentives. On top of this, if we match an offer- lets be real, Cousins doesn't have to sign our offer over the other teams. He can choose Denver or whoever. I think people forget he has to WANT to stay in DC over another team. so lets all be real and just come to reality that unless we tag him for 34 mil, hes gone unless Allen and Snyder overpay him grossly. |

"No Offer Sheet may contain a Principal Term that would create rights or obligations for the Old Club that differ in any way (including but not limited to the amount of compensation that would be paid, the circumstances in which compensation would be guaranteed, or the circumstances in which other contractual rights would or would not vest) from the rights or obligations that such Principal Term would create for the Club extending the Offer Sheet (i.e., no 'poison pills')." But yeah it does imply everything else has to be matched. However about the bolded part, under the transition tag I'm pretty sure Cousins would have no choice but to play for the Skins if he signed an offer that we would match.

Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
I think it comes down to this, if the Skins are serious about keeping him, they need to come strong with an offer that screams we want you back. Otherwise let him hit the market to gauge his true value and hope he’s interested in letting the Skins counter.
