Still a lot of time to sign a LB.

Re: 2022 Commanders off season thread part 1
Rivera also acknowledged the need “Well, I think if we’re looking at one position, it is gonna be linebacker,” Rivera said. “We have a good number of guys here. We’re very pleased with the number of guys we have here, but we don’t have another veteran-type guy once we get past Khaleke [Hudson], so right now, we’re just too deep. We’d like to get a few more guys to be a bit deeper there.”
I don't see how they would be ok with not being able to line up a base 4-3 defense (I know, lot of nickel, but we still play some base defense), and being one injury away from one your starting LBs being Brian Ketchup... Ron can't publicly say they're paper thin at LB, and maybe he doesn't think they are as thin as I think they are, otherwise he would've acted earlier on this. But I still got hope they are aware they can't start the season like that.

Any free agent worth signing is playing chicken right now with potential teams. They're in no rush to sign before training camp.

Efe Obada 6’6” 265 plays big and physical, athletic DE. He looks promising as a back up to provide depth. Born in Nigeria and raised in the Netherlands and United Kingdom, he was the first international player to go straight from a European league to the NFL.

Re: 2022 Commanders off season thread part 1
So many media people talk about these guys like they're the front 4 of the Steelers. Have they actually seen these guys play? We had way better d-lines here during Gibbs 1. Even Gibbs 2. All this talk about breaking Manley and Mann's sack record. blah blah. Manley would have made the HOF had he not had his off the field issues.
They need to stop living off draft pick status and start to take over games when the games are on the line. Until then it's just a bunch of hot air. I knew they were just an average group when they were dominated by Tampa in the playoffs. They flat out didn't show up and they were easily dominated, pushed around all game long. Chase was dominated. Tampa ran for like 150 yards and they rolled up over 500. You rarely see 500+ yards of offense in the NFL. That game rolled right over into the next season.. Terrible of 3rd downs... And Del Rio? Not impressed at all. |

Re: 2022 Commanders off season thread part 1
Yep, they were less than impressive in that playoff game - and when they played an actual starting QB for that matter. They have potential as a unit, but that potential hasn't been realized as of yet. Still holding out hope that they can bring it all together this year. I think the continuity in the secondary and being healthy up front will go a long way towards realizing that potential.

Re: 2022 Commanders off season thread part 1
They gotta add a linebacker who can contribute on the field and we need depth as well.

It wouldn't be the worst thing, but I am still holding out hope that they are able to bring in a guy like AJ Johnson.
