Re: Week 1: Redskins vs. Cowboys, Game-Day Thread

On a quick side note.... the Detroit game with the questionable play of the day...

The Refs say no TD cause he didn't have 2 feet down? was that the reason? I see him catch it, take 2 steps, then his hip hits the ground before the ball hits the ground and rolls out of his hand. It should have been a TD. Literally I see his right foot come down, then his left, then his left again and his hip.

Haslett needs to lay off the blitz. We had what, only one sack? Sure we rushed Romo's timing often in the first half, but the blitz lost its effectiveness as the game went on in the second half. We were one stupid mistake away from getting smoked at the end.

wouldve had more if not for the holding and it did have an effect on Romo in multiple plays, we just need more time w/ the 3-4

Nothing to do with his feet, he bobbled the ball at the end so no catch. Same thing that happened in the Skins/Bucs playoff game in Tampa a few years ago where the Bucs WR lost control as he hit the ground. You have to complete the act of the catch.

By the way...for those who don't know. Orakpo is f'ing beast. HE won that game. Barron held him because Rak treated him like a little bitch. He treated him like a bitch all day too.

I would say no cause I like the attacking defense, but showing blitz then backing out to put more people in coverage would have been nice a few times. I'm also not a fan of the 1 or 2 guys only on the defensive line.

NO, it had to do with a new rule about keeping possesion of the ball through the play. Johnson got the ball in bounds with both feet, but as he came down he put the ball on the ground first, then let it go. He had possesion of the ball, but he did let go of it as he pulled himself up. I do not know why these NFL assholes try and screw with the rules to be able to have more control over the outcome of the game.

That scheme worked big time. All day they forced Romo into hot reads and tempered their offense. They broke some big plays but mostly we dictated their offense all day. That was big.

Re: Week 1: Redskins vs. Cowboys, Game-Day Thread

dropped passes, dropped INTs (won't blame that one on Landry, he was already moving past the ball), not so great initial blocking and getting upfield (aka not finishing first line blocks).. on the players

red zone playcalling, personnel, timeouts could've been one, etc

So true. The new D needs work but there is a lot to like there.

I don't know I say catch. Yes he bobbled the ball when he first caught it, but when his first foot comes down he has it in his right hand grasping it. The ball does not move until the tip hits the ground for which it rolls away, but it the ground can't cause a fumble the it's a TD.

I am not going to bitch. This was a win. An ugly one, but man our defense came to play. I am pumped. 1-0 baby... leading the East. good way to start the season.

Once we can get this o going we can be a damn good team.

I feel thats different cause Johnson didnt let go of the ball till he was getting up, while Williams in the playoff game clearly lost control of the ball before he hit the ground and the ground allowed him to get control of the ball, Johnson had it all the way for me.
