For us much as we have argued about politics, if Trump was never president, we would probably have been on the same side for a lot of political debates here over the last few years.

Note - I wasn't saying you were wrong for opposing him (by the time primaries got to CA, my top choice wasn’t even in the race anymore). Just simply if he never ran, let alone won, we would probably have been on the same side on way more discussions/arguments.

My history with trump goes back to the early 80's (I'm 65) , the stories of him wrecking lives is true .When he was President I felt like I was a bystander at a train crossing screaming at the others to get out of the car and they never do........and then the train hits!

Shit is about to get real with energy prices. If you heat your house with Natural gas it’s gonna be ugly this winter. Crude Oil just touched highest price since 2014.

Not good

Inflation and Biden’s energy policy decisions equal higher prices. Sorry

Inflation is supply n demand right now. Supply and demand is because of the pandemic.

Energy policy decisions on the left are based on a world being around for future generations. Minor details.

Most of our natural gas comes from horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing anyways so crude oil won't impact it's price. Of course prices will go up because corps will make us pay more just because but they don't have too.

Being tied to corporate whims is one of the reasons I decided to eliminate natural gas heat all together and switch to a wood burning stove. Now I just wait for a tree to fall slice, dice and split and I am set for the winter.

Man I wish I had a wood fireplace, I replaced with propane logs. Nothing is better

I think one thing to remember with energy is for the first time since 1953 during the last administration, the US became a net exporter of energy. That’s bigly

Ill try and explain in the simplest of terms. The progressive wing of the democratic party wants other bills passed before they get on board. The GOP will not even consider it because they are suddenly fiscally responsible again. They were not when they stamped Trumps tax breaks for the rich. The only bullshit here is that you are pretending not to understand the bigger picture. Which you usually don’t when it involves Trump in a negative light. In this case wasting our money on his rich bitch friends so that he can do a victory conga line at mara lago with them all.

Tax breaks for the rich…the raising the SALT Tax to pre Trump limits? Bro, you know the SALT tax repeal that only Democrats are pushing would be the actually largest tax break for the wealthy that directly hits there personal tax return.
Read up:
https://www.brookings.edu/blog/up-fr...llion-dollars/

Ninety-six percent of the benefit would flow to the top 20 percent of the income distribution with the top 0.1 percent getting a tax cut of $154,000 per year, on average. To be fair, the middle class does get something. The middle 60 percent of the income distribution would receive, on average, a tax cut of $37 per year. Even in high-tax states, the middle class gets little. In New York, the top 1 percent would get a tax cut of about $103,000, on average. For those in the middle class, the benefit is just $90, on average. So repealing the cap is regressive and delivers little to no social benefit.

Also, raising the tobacco, vape, etc. taxes directly hits the poor.

You guys all are full of shit. It’s a socialist plan period which tax benefits the wealthy especially in high tax blue states.

Agreed, taxes on things like alcohol, tobacco hit the poor more.

If suspending or raising the SALT cap would benefit wealthy especially in blue states ... are you willing to concede that Trumps tax plan which started this SALT mess was designed to target blue states.

Trump was such a partisan POS. President to half the country, vindictive petty asshole to the rest.

--------------

Democratic-leaning blue states tend to be wealthier and pay more to the Federal Government than they get. In contrast, Republican-leaning red states tend to have less wealth and receive more Federal Government funds than they pay. In the MoneyGeek rankings, nine of the 10 most dependent states are considered red states.

"Higher-income states produce the majority of the tax dollars that go into the Federal Government's pocket," Fallon says. Because of the higher income, states and their residents need less support and use fewer federal dollars.

Fallon noted that recent tax code changes have made wealthy states' contributions more pronounced.

"Before, people who paid large state income taxes would deduct those from their federal tax payments," she says. Now, state tax deductions are capped. "Ironically, it means the wealthier states' populations are paying even more."

https://www.moneygeek.com/living/sta...t/#red-vs-blue

Chico youre right .. it is fucking socialism. Tax code written to attack blue states to prop up red states even more.

red states .. get your shit together you commie bastards.

Again? So now how can you blame the Republicans? The infrastructure bill is a bipartisan bill passed in the Senate. It is the progressives in the House that are holding that bill hostage until their own separate (non infrastructure) bill gets passed in reconciliation.

It is the same I want the whole loaf or nothing option that Washington has been operating on for the last 13 years.
