Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
For those of you who had a weird tragic accident occur and it forced you to miss a good part of the game........ I feel bad for you.
For those of us who watched the game from start to finish with all the highs and lows, I calmed down after about an hour and am now starting to feel weirdly happy about the fact our team played well, or so it seemed to me. In the past we would have ran, ran, ran and kept trying even though it was not working. Today was different, we seemed to pass well (McNabb with over 400+ yrds passing), the run game was not too bad, we scored over 20 points, the defense did well, we got another turnover, and the pass rush seemed to be working well.... how many sacks did we get? I know it's a loss but I couldn't help but reflect and be happy and excited about this team. Maybe now NFCE, media, and whoever the hell else will take note we are a different team. No longer are we the NFCE whipping boy. I had to keep reminding myself this was one of the games I had listed as a loss when I said we might go 9-7 or 10-6. I actually expected a blow out by the Texans and for it not to have happened against another team that was a play off team last yr and is supposed to be strong and make another run at the play offs makes a statement. |

Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
I mostly agree SBXVII, with the exception of our run game. 18 yards is unacceptable all the way around. That said, I expected the Texans to really blow us out, and that we had a 27-10 lead at any point is really amazing. Further, after last week, everyone (myself included) was wondering where any semblance of an offense was (heck I even benched McNabb in fantasy arrrgghhhh). So 400 yards, 27 points, and no turnovers(right?), that is all an excellent harbinger for this season. Our D needs to tighten up, but the Houston offense is not some weak opponent.

Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
Portis had 30 something but when you subtract the negative 10 by LJ that takes the team rushing number down quite a bit right there.

Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
I've often said that when a defense has a good DL then you need to find another way to get your star players the ball. We played two teams with awsome run defenses, but perhaps maybe getting the RB beyond the DL and passing to them would have been the answer.... although I think we tried that and Portis was either over thrown or didn't catch the ball.
I also don't recall seeing any cut blocking. It's almost like they don't want the team to use it until they need it or the team gets better at it or something. Unless I miss something. |

Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
THAT'S why we have a drunk thread!
AND as.....painfull as this was, it's our coaches and our guys first year in ALL new systems. ALl of our systems arenot in place and all the correct personnel does not exist here as of yet. Another offseason, and draft...maybe, maybe more. THAT having been said, globally your Offense cannot quit scoring, and your Defense MUST be able to make a stop when the game is on the line........... It was a professional showing Sleep well............or not.

Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
I was eating dinner and missed the Armstrong catch.
Did he do well enough that we can stop talking about VJ? lol. I thought it looked like they were using Galloway well, and heard the cheering for Armstrong. It just seemed to me again it was all Moss, Moss, Moss the whole first half. Maybe the whole game but it was nice to see and hear a couple of other guys getting catches to include Davis.

Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
I don't think so, VJ is fast but Galloway is on a whole other level when it comes to speed, even at 38 years old. Galloway was open because he burned the secondary. As much as it pains me to say it thats on McNabb.

Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
As I said before this is one of the games I had listed as a loss and probably a blow out. Here was my win/loss...
Win: Cowboys Rams Eagles Bears Lions Eagles Giants Buccaneers Jaguars Loss: Texans Packers Colts Titans Vikings Giants Cowboys My list has us 9-7 but if we can even clear maybe one more like the Vikings who looked bad or maybe take the second Cowboys game we could go 10-6. |

Let's see if we can beat the Rams like we SHOULD beat the Rams. I would like to see us get and hold a lead against a "lesser" team.

Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
Ok, had to change my Avatar for the week, not sure who was the mvp of our loss but I would think with McNabb's 400+ yrds passing he was it if not runner up. However I think McNabb will get his day on another game.
I think Rogers deserves his props. We are quick to slam him for his bad hands but he actually caught one today which led to points. So.... Rogers is my Avatar of the week. |

If VJ costs us draft picks I don't want him.
