ESPN.com's John Clayton and Len Pasquarelli report San Diego Chargers S Marlon McCree agreed to a five-year, $16 million contract with the team. Included in the deal is $6 million in roster bonuses over the first two years of the contract.

both good contracts for the teams. And both probably guys we should have looked at. maybe we did and passed on them.
i think williams definitely wanted arch over mcree because of his blitzing ability

Sat, 11 Mar 2006 20:18:43 -0800

Sean Jensen, of the Pioneer Press, reports Minnesota Vikings RB Chester Taylor signed a four-year contract worth $14.1 million with $5.6 million guaranteed in bonuses.

Eagles | Schobel contract update
Sat, 11 Mar 2006 18:55:48 -0800

Mark Curnutte, of the Cincinnati Enquirer, reports free agent TE Matt Schobel will get a $1.8 million signing bonus on a five-year contract. He will arrive in Philadelphia on Monday, March 13, to sign his contract and appear at a news conference.

nothing important. taylor got paid though. his base salaries are good for the vikes, but 5.6mill in bonuses for an average RB? lerber might be a good deal, depending on his production.

schobel was CHEAP, but its not like anyone thinks of him as a game breaker. and to think, for a little more, they could have gotten robert royal instead :P schobel is faster than royal, but otherwise a fairly average TE.
i think they had better in an aged chad lewis

taylor's receiving stats: 41 catches for 292 yards

it makes more sense when you think of him as more of a west coast pass catching RB. that's what they did with westbrook.

He's basically trying to create the eagles, part 2. He's already being stingy on player contracts (don't pay daunte, dont' pay williams, get some 2nd rate guys), overspending on a WR with a bad track record, betting on an RB because of his hands instead of his running ability, and depending heavily on defense and passing while ignoring the need to run.

In that view, their moves don't seem completely retarded, but it'll probably take more than 1 year to rebuild and find a new QB. BJ is good, and the cast is alright, but there's some big holes that the draft isn't going to fill (WR if KR isn't a monster, future QB, etc).
he better get a defense.. that always brings minnehaha down

Texans | Givens cancels visit; reports say he re-signed with New England
Sat, 11 Mar 2006 23:12:28 -0800

John McClain, of the Houston Chronicle, reports free agent WR David Givens (Patriots) has canceled his visit with the Houston Texans Sunday, March 12. Reports out of New England late Saturday evening, March 11, were that Givens had decided to re-sign with the New England Patriots.

surprise, no one went after him like patten last year, and he decided he rather resign with the pats than go to a 4-12 type team.

good for the texans... only took 4 years too long to get around to an offensive line though. hallen is a guy i thought we might look at (but again, starting OL is super expensive for backup duty).

I'll kill them. In all honesty there are a TON of back up QB's out there. It's just this one is familiar with what we want to do. And if Norv runs a version of the Air Coryell offense, then I guess San Fran thinks he could be a good fit there.

I feel completely comfortable in saying this is, by far, the most passion that Todd Collins has ever evoked in somone!

Well that was more of a tongue in cheek remark. But I would at least do this. :smashfrea
