Re: Jason Campbell: when will the switch be made?
I figured out the answer to the question asked in the thread name. Jason Campbell will become the starting quarterback when he's a 14 year veteran that is declining with age and sucks when injured. That's when Joe Gibbs will think he's ready.

My comment is on your signature. This is Joe's QB. Is he going to get pissed off at himself? |

Re: Jason Campbell: when will the switch be made?
Look, the Redskins are still in the playoff hunt until they lose seven or eight games. Jason Cambell willcome in at that time. Joe Gibbs is not an idiot. Brunnell cannot play defense and offense. They scored three touch downs in the third quarter. We dont have the talent in the secondary. We also dont have alot of talent on the defensive line, and we need a good weakside linbacker. Infact, we may need a better middle linebacker.

Re: Jason Campbell: when will the switch be made?
The saddest thing is that this is a Joe Gibbs-coached team that could only play half a game when the season was on the line. Add in all those personal fouls and unnecssary roughness calls, and there is no difference between the Steve Spurrier days and today.

I don't know, Steve Spurrier had better records up until that last 5-11 season. Today's Redskins will be lucky if they win 4.

Re: Jason Campbell: when will the switch be made?
Good point, sad but true. The Redskins easily are the biggest disappointment of the NFL season to date.

Re: Jason Campbell: when will the switch be made?
Saddly your right, during Joe's firsrt go around, I remember how renowned he was for the second half adjustments he would make. Anytime they would be losing, the announcers would comment on how good he was at half-time adjustments and more often-than-not the skins would play more inspired. What happened to that?

i think the shorter halftimes has alot to do with it, but i also think Joe Gibbs may have been TOO humble in getting Al Saunders and not trusting his offense from last season. the one that got us in the playoffs.

Here is my offseason checklist (yes, the season is officially over). Sign a real GM and I only want a guy who will tell Napoleon to stick to marketing and tell Joe to stick to coaching. IMO our draft should be 3 positions only not necessarily in this order. One LB (two if there is a "can't miss"), DL, and OL. That's it. Free Agency: Sign a veteran QB (maybe Trent Green) to start or compete with Campbell. Sign a Corner maybe a cover safety. The only players they need on offense are linemen. I wouldn't even sign Betts to a big deal. Runningbacks grow on trees. No more big splashes unless it is a high profile corner, only quality depth and plenty of it. If anyone is interested in a "Burn Brunell Jersey bonfire", let me know. |

I've heard about times in Joe Gibbs' first reign when he would raise hell in the locker room at halftime and he wouldn't be afraid to call a player out to make him play better. I think it's time he stops babying the players and benches them when they don't play well. Maybe Joe Gibbs has magical glasses that make Brunell look like an all-pro. I'm just tired of the players getting a free ride.
